Daily Carry Knife
This smooth opening folder has become my daily carry knife. If fits easily in my right front pocket whether I am wearing a business suit, jeans or golf shorts. The blade is sufficient to be effective in self defense. The folded knife is slim enough to blend in and not be noticed in my pocket. This is a high quality gentelman's knife.I would not pry anything with it's slender blade. It stays sharp. I touch it up with a fine stone once a month. I use it daily for the ordinary opening a box or letter. I took it on a week long back packing trip and cut line, made tinder from sticks and cut food. It works very effectively for these convenience chores. In just a few months of ownership, others have asked to examine the knife while I was using it several times. It is attractive as well as useful. The design allows one to carry a larger blade than might otherwise be comfortable in business settlings,I highly recommend this high quality knife to persons who would like to carry a bladed tool but would feel out of place with a folder or straight bladed tactical knife because of size or bulk. The knife's slim, elegant appearance allows it to fit in to a business setting. The blade is large enough to be useful. When opened it will not be mistaken to a nail file or a letter opener.

Wrong Picture
Buyer be ware: The picture shows the knife with a blue handle (which is what I wanted) but I received the black handled version. I later discovered the only clue to this change is that the item number is different by one letter. There is no other warning that the picture does not represent the product.Update:It is a decent knife for the money. The action is very much like a Kershaw Leek but a bit smoother with the additional bearing. The handle is very light. While this keeps the weight down, it can also feel a bit flimsy, especially around the frame lock. The pocket clip is small, stiff, and not adjustable. I can't comment on the edge retention as I returned the knife in favor of a Spyderco Superhawk which can now be had for about $35 more than the Ripple at many places on the net (though not at Amazon). While the Spyderco has a larger profile due to the hawkbill shape, there is no contest in quality. With VG-10 steel, carbon fiber handles, and a sturdy compression lock, the Superhawk is in a different league and is now my everyday carry. SuperHawk, Carbon Fiber Handle, Plain

Love it or hate it knife - (Discontinued) buy while you can.
I own 2 versions of this knife. While they are both excellent in terms of style and function, the K405KXP is the version that I feel was not as well designed as the 406. In the hand, the sharp lines are very apparent. The flipper stud will tear up the meaty portion of you finger unless it has calloused over. Having said all of that this is an outstanding daily carry knife. This knife wins in slimness, ease of use, functional blade shape and more importantly weight. If you are looking for something different don't hesitate to give this a try. I will advise however that you can pick up the K406 (with modified drop point blade) same blade and handle material for around $50.Pros --Unique- lightweight at 3.1 OZ- functional sharp blade out of box- very slim in the pocket- excellent jimping- ikbs + flipper = winCons-- quality control between 2 knives varies greatly- flipper stud can tear up finger- rough handle with jarring edges- non adjustable pocket clipVerdict - Absolute buy; even the whatever copy I received still blows most pocket knives out of the water.Warranty Update - 1/24/2015 - I noticed this blade had some issues with lock retention/sticky deployment so I sent the RIPPLE back to CRKT. These guys sent me a brand new RIPPLE free of charge. I stand behind CRKT as a company that makes things right with it's customers. The new RIPPLE I received was even better than the 1st with tight lockup, perfect deployment and solid fit and finish. If this review helped you please give thumbs up!

Poorly Executed
The good: wonderfully smooth opening, very sharp out of the box, looks great. The bad: many sharp edges on the handle, which make for significant discomfort if you firmly grip it; the only sharp edge should be the blade, and definitely not poking into the handler! Too much of the handle is purely "geometric," with inadequate rounding. Of particular trouble is the side of the index finger groove opposite of the framelock. Also, the flipper's jimping is quite sufficient to make you bleed if you use it too much or too firmly. No reason these pseudo-blades couldn't have been smoothed out, and I'm definitely not sure if that's Ken Onion's fault. Don't dare buy this before handling one, unless you don't mind the hassle of returning it. You may like it, or, you might not. There are many reviews from others around the web about these sharp edges, so it's not just a fluke on my specimen. There is a thicker, aluminum-handled linerlock version of the Ripple, the K415KXP, that is much more comfortable, at a much better price, too. Try that one out, and see which you like best.
