I BOUGHT THIS STRAP AS A LAST RESORT TO REMOVE A STUCK WATER SEPARATOR ON MY 2013 DODGE RAM DIESEL. I BOUGHT A COUPLE DIFFERENT FILTER WRENCHES THAT WOULD NOT BREAK THE SEPARATOR LOOSE. IT IS LOCATED IN A TIGHT SPOT BESIDE THE FUEL TANK. I HAVE HAD TO RUN A SCREW DRIVER THROUGH OIL FILTERS A COUPLE TIMES IN MY LIFE, BUT THIS POSSIBLY CONTAINING A FLAMMABLE LIQUID, GAVE ME PAUSE!! I BOUGHT THIS STRAP FILTER REMOVER MADE BY GEAR WRENCH AND IT WORKED GREAT. I DID EAT MY WHEATIES BEFORE I TRIED IT BECAUSE I STILL HAD TO APPLY A LOT OF STRENGTH TO BREAK IT LOOSE BUT I GIT IT ON MY FIRST TRY. GREAT PRODUCT!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TOOL.

Phenomenal! Bought a ford ranger 2000 Xl 4L v6, which had sat for a year and the filter was seized on. My hand grip was not enough nor was there any room for any other of my tools horizontally. I used two extensions, a ratchet and breaker bar with this strap to remove the filter. It takes some time to play and get wrapped around the filter. There is no retainer to it so you have to hold it. Adjustability is wide there will be a lot of extra material if your filter is less then 3 inch in diameter. I personally found the best results from pre adjusting the strap before I put it on and placing the strap as high as I could on the lip of the filter where it’s connected to your engine. Worth the money it got my filter off in 5 mins. I have used it once and hopefully will not have to use it again haha, so I can’t say anything about its durability. The nylon just caked in grease but no fraying, tears, or bending happened for my one time use.

with some fighting as we know if we are ripping old filters off a rig, this works..

This is what you need to get that tough filter off. I needed the filter off my new tri glide Harley. It crushed it and spun it off in a limited situation.

This thing is awesome. I remove and install filters from 3-8 inches in diameter ranging from 3-14 inches tall and this wrench removes them all with a 3/8 12”long handle ratchet and a 3-12 inch extension matching the filter height. Fulcrum lever theory it it’s best.

Did not work for me. I took my car to a mechanic for the oil change just prior to this one. I normally do my own oil changes, and I'll spare you the details on why I had to take my car in. However, the technician that put the oil filter on must have had robot hands or something, because the oil filter was dented. Anyhow, I tried a socket-style oil filter wrench, the type that goes on the angled edges around the top of the oil filter, but it was just on too tight. I bought this oil filter strap wrench and a Workpro branded one. I had really high hopes for this Gearwrench one, but it just WOULD NOT grip the filter for any amount of fiddling. Frustrated, I switched to the Workpro oil filter wrench and voila! After hours of monkeying with the oil filter the Workpro oil filter wrench got the filter off in about 30 seconds! There's a 50/50 chance that I could have used the Gearwrench oil filter strap wrench differently, and it might have worked, but i really can't see how. It's possible it will work for you, but if you ask me, just use the Workpro Oil Filter Wrench. In April 2026, it's half the cost of the Gearwrench one, and works a treat. After 2 days of trying to open a blue water housing following all the tips and tricks we could find from Youtube including using two plastic spanners and two people twisting spanners, also heating the housing with a blow heater, and using a steel pipe as a lever on the spanner handle nothing worked. We purchased this product after seeing it recommended on Youtube. Very good quality product and it worked!

This thing is the cats ass. Unless a filter was put on with the vengeance of an ex boyfriend & the helping hand of loctite. This does everything. From 300cc tiny little lawnmowers to 32L V16 diesel filters. This filter wrench lives in my main packout box.

It works as it is supposed to.

I have not used the product yet but the quality looks good. The packet was opened inside the postage bag but I think it was customs doing a visual check on it
