Can anyone tell me the actual outside diameter of the flange on the 4"

I used 4" schedule 40 PVC and it fit snugly on the 4" blast gate. I also drilled and screwed two sheet metal screws per blast gate (along with silicon sealer)

Are they both 4" od, or is one size 4"id for dc machine port?

No, They are 3 11/16 id and 3 13/16 + 1/32 od. There is nothing 4" here.

any suggestions on how to attach this to 4" DWV? The pipe is too large for these.

I didn't hook them up to 4inch. I ran 2 3/4 flex and pvc. Btw...it clogs up with saw dust. I drilled a hole on side opposite the slide with a forsner bit to blow it out. I cover the hole with duct tape.

The action on the 4" plastic version is very rough / jerky. Any successful method of smooting the action? Grease?

I found it varies from one gate to another. Applying wax from a candle or similar source, helped but did not fully fix the issue. I just rubbed it on the flat portion that fits in the groove and worked it back and forth. I would be afraid that grease would trap dust. I prefer metal gates.

Great product!

Great product! I used this to put in the window of the room where I have my laser engraver. I attached it to a piece of plywood that I then placed in the window opening. Attached a standard dryer vent hose and it works great! I like that I can close the vent by sliding the little door.

As described. I have this 4" blast gate and a 2.5" blast gate going from my dust collect to separate hoses. Both blast gates are sturdy and work well.
