Great Duck , easy to cook

This seller's price is the cheapest I can find online. I was in Brittany in June and their prices are comparable to what I could buy there. It is also the cheapest I have been able to get from a postage pov. I live in NI. La Belle Chaurienne brand is excellent quality. I cook my duck confit by emptying the tin into a casserole and covering it. I heat it slowly in the oven at 160°c, for about an hour, to allow the fat to melt and to slowly heat the duck. I then fry it on the hob, in a shallow frying pan, at a very high temperature, for about 5 minutes on each side, to crisp it. It falls off the bone. I think, if you don't cook tinned duck confit slowly and for long enough it can be tough. I have purchased duck confit 10 times from this seller.

I should have read the reviews first! There is nothing wrong with the product itself - it tastes wonderful and is a great cook's cheat when catering for numbers. However as others have found although it says "Serves 5" in the item description in fact the tin only contains 4 servings, not great when you were planning to cater for 5! I bought the item specifically because of the number of portions eg competitors items on the online supermarkets are often sold by the weight with the description "may contain 4 or 5 servings". Credit to Amazon that they refunded the purchase price and I bought another tin, but clearly they don't worry about the misdescription which has been left unchanged for a while. So only 3 stars while not complaining about the quality of the product or the original supplier

Large and succulent confit duck. Served with James Martin's bean stew recipe. Beautiful. Lots of duck fat for amazing roast potatoes next day. Good quality and value.

Really tasty! Plenty of meat on the bone.
