Beautiful, affordable, stylish Couch... that is a tad firm.
New apartment needed a new furniture. I had my eyes set on this model made by Modway. NOTE: this couch is sold under a number of parent brands across the internet and in some instances different model names. You can find it at the cheapest cost on Amazon and at ridiculously inflated prices at specialty stores. Assembly was super easy, just attaching the legs. The couch looks beautiful for sure. The deep blue is great and the fabric has a nice texture. That being said because of the weave it is easy for it to collect dirt, particals, etc inside the weave so I'd say expect to put a little bit of effort into keeping it clean. I agree with other reviewers that the couch is very firm. I wouldn't call it uncomfortable but I also tend to lean more towards form over function and might be a bit biased because of how good the couch looks. If you want a plush couch to sink into this is not going to meet those standards. The seat is extremely firm and the back rest is even more so with very little cushion. Again, I don't mind as I don't spend a ton of time on my couch. It's nice and long for a adult over 6' to lie down on to watch a movie and could hold two people lying down together doing the same. Definitely plan on getting pillows for the ends to soften the blow to your head if you want to recline and watch TV. Again, I'm not typically in my taste for couches—I find this one to be a great value for the cost, with spot on style with a bit of sacrifice in regards to overall comfort.

Beautiful, long, modern gray sofa; Absolutely 5 stars!
I ordered the gray sofa. It is a medium gray - not dark charcoal, not light gray. I can see no blue tones to it, although some reviewers have said they see blue undertones. I put a dark gray ottoman next to it and they both look simply gray. It was delivered fully packaged in a cardboard box. The sofa was well protected by both rubbery-foam padding on the wooden parts and a huge off-white drawstring slipcover on the entire fabric part. The legs were in a little compartment built into the sofa's underside. I assembled it in less than 10 minutes with no special tools. Everything you need is included. As a side note, I am saving the slipcover to use when the cat is home alone. It's not waterproof, but it does protect from excess cat hair, and I've already washed it once so I know it stands up to a washing. The cushions are very, very firm. Some people have complained about this, but I love it. As you know, cushions only get softer and flatter with time, so I'm very glad this sofa will take a long time to sag where my husband sits every night. The sofa's fabric is soft to the touch. Not soft as in crushed velvet or faux suede, but soft as in an often-washed pair of fine quality jeans. The fabric is smooth and doesn't stick out in any way to catch on anything, which I appreciate. It is a clean design, very long, and very comfortable once I put my legs up on an ottoman for the night. I give it absolutely 5 stars.

Mostly very good for me
I've only had this Engage sofa for a couple of days. I was looking for a LR sofa that was firm and my main use is lying down on it to watch TV or take naps. The seat cushions are firm and resemble what you would have in a firm mattress. The back cushions are not really cushions and are pretty hard with very thin foam so you'll need a pillow behind your back (I had 20 x20 covers from Ikea and 26x26 foam inserts from Amazon--use smaller dimension inserts if you want a softer feel) Like many other reviewers have said--the sofa sits too high at about 20.5 inches. I cut a 3.25 inches off the legs----you'll have to work this out as the legs are cut so they angle out as you see on the pictures. I used a miter box from Lowe's with the 22.5 degree angle---which is a few degrees more than the cuts on the legs, but is close enough--I put felt pads on the bottoms and it seems solid enough. I over-cut the center leg and will cut a section from the leftover piece and glue together. Geometry wasn't my strongest subject. Other: Delivery was great and within the 3 hour time frame as promised, Design is wonderful, Color is terrific and fabric is too. not scratchy at all.

Perfect mid century piece
I have tracked the prices of this sofa for about a year and I have always liked its style and size. But unlike smaller and cheaper products, this sofa is tougher to pull the trigger on because you can’t touch it or sit on it unlike an actual store like Ashley’s . Anyhow I finally went ahead and ordered it. It got delivered last Friday and after setting it up and sitting on it I couldn’t be more pleased with the purchase. It is literally everything I imagined it to be: sturdy , elegant, and it has the perfect balance of practicality with mid century modern style that makes it stand out in any living room setting. The color is warm beige and the fabric is durable yet soft. I fell asleep on it the first night and slept like a baby. Like many other reviewers have said, this is a very stiff couch, and if you’re like me who do not like the feeling of sinking in couches from Ashley’s and Raymour, you need to buy this right now. It also came semi-assembled so all there is to be done is installing the legs which took me about 10 minutes. I can’t say enough good things about it but pictures are worth a thousand words. Just buy it and you won’t be disappointed!

Exceeded Expectations
I had my last sofa for 12 years and it was oh so comfy, but I wanted to redo my living room. I shopped physically and online for about a month going back-and-forth narrowing down to three choices. When I decided on this sofa, the next choice was color. I knew I was going to wallpaper my one wall with black grasscloth and wan't sure if the 'Expectation Gray' would make things too dark in my living room. I'm glad I took a chance and bought it (got an incredible deal on Amazon's warehouse) because it's exactly the contrast I was hoping for. Besides looking good, I wanted a sofa on which I could easily stretch out on and I can on this...I'm 6' 170lbs. I was concerned that I might have a hard time transitioning from a super comfy sofa to this rather stiff one; however, my body found it's comfort zon within a week. It arrived just when COVID lockdown happened; so, I've spent a lot of time on this sofa and can report satisfaction on comfort, appearance, quality, and construction. I'm also very glad that I bought the matching Ottoman. Putting it together was straightforward and easy...take out of box and screw the legs on.

How to make this beautiful sofa comfortable
This sofa looks as great as it's pictures and really completes my room with that Mid-Century Modern aesthetic. Unfortunately, the sofa is horribly uncomfortable. I mean it is like, unusably uncomfortable. But I look at this sofa and man it really is beautiful, so I figured I could fix the comfort side of things and have a solid comfortable sofa that fits my aesthetic. I have split this review into a few sections. Here we go: Why it is uncomfortable: to start with the seating level (height from floor to top of cushion) measures a whopping 20"! You might ask, is that a big deal? I will tell you - it is a big F#*! deal. To compare most sofas are 17 to 18 inches tall. You might also ask "Well, doesn't the foam cushion sink down a few inches when you sit on it? No! No, it doesn't. It doesn't move. It is softer than wood but has about the same give. I plan on cutting mine into fist size pieces and making stress balls out of it. .... So you sit down and you are 20" off the ground, now it gets really fun, or dumb, or just poorly designed. The seat cushion is 24" deep and meets the back support at a right angle. This means that if you were to sit down and scoot all the way back, first you will appear to be in an uncomfortable position (you are) second the position you are in will make you want to lift your legs higher, but guess what. you can't. Do you want to know why? Because you f#@! feet don't touch the floor. I am of average height (5'10") and my feet do not touch the floor when sitting all the way back on this torcher couch. So what do you do now? You have the couch/sofa of your aesthetic dreams but you can't sit on it without losing your mind. Go back to Amazon (or whatever) and start looking for some throw pillows. You're going to need a lot of them. Get some 20x20 some 16x16 and some 12x20 pillows. At least two of each. Next, do a search for "memory foam for cushions high density" and pick something at least 80' long and 24" wide. I would recommend 5" thick. Look for this number in the description 44ILD Firm. Don't be scared by the "Firm" description, it is nice and soft. Also, get some Upholstery Batting to fill in the last inch and make the new cushions fill out the covers. BTW the cushion covers and upholstery are really well constructed and have a 3.5-star feel. You will also need a utility blade or razor blade to cut the foam. Don't use scissors ... just trust me, the razor is way easier. Now cut the foam to fit, cover the foam with the batting and shove them into the cushion covers. Scatter the pillows around and have a much-deserved seat. Is it comfortable? Well, it is way better than is was and only cost about $100 - $150 in supplies. Not bad! Okay, now for the real deal. This is going to get a little hard so if your happy at this point, just stop reading. I am (as you may have guessed) still not as comfortable as I want to be on this beauty yet. The next step for me will be to flip the sofa over and remove the feet. I think you might know where I am heading with this. First, do you have a compound miter saw? I do. I also like to fix and build things so this might not be for everyone. On the flip side if you were looking for a good reason to buy a compound miter saw, well now you have one. The plan is to take about an inch off of each foot. (the sofa is still too high) I am going to set up a jig to help make each cut the same. I have not finished this part yet, I plan to do it this week and will update the review. On the plus side, the foot construction for the sofa is a quality design in that they are all identical. Cool, right! Okay, more to come... To sum this up: 5 stars for the aesthetic look (mid-century modern) I love how this sofa looks. Just a beaut Clark. 1 star for comfort. Truly unusably torturously uncomfortable. (this is not a joke, you will be disappointed) 3.5 stars for the overall construction. The quality construction was the reason I decided to augment this sofa into a usable piece of furniture/art instead of returning it. So, if you don't want to fix a brand new purchase to make it usable DON'T buy this sofa. If like me the $750 price tag and the gorgeous mid-century aesthetic are what interested you and you are good at fixing stuff then pull the trigger now. You have your next project and a reason to buy that compound miter saw you have been thinking about. Plus throw pillows are really fun. I mean pillow fights are just the beginning. You can get all kinds of covers for them. You can get a print of your favorite animal, or person, or whatever on a custom "magic" pillow. You can make a theme sofa like Star Wars or a holiday sofa full of autumnal images. Do you like the beach? You can cover all those pillows in shells and sea-horses. The options are limitless. I think there is even an AI that combines the most searched images into an algorithm and prints custom covers. Roll the dice y'all. But here's the thing, you are going to need throw pillows, lots of them. Peace. -EchoArk

A great stylish deal +update
I agree with other reviews that it is pretty stiff- but does get cozier with some use. I’m honestly ok with that if it means the cushions will keep their shape better over time! It was super easy to put the legs on and pictures don’t do the color justice- it is a beautiful fabric. The support in the middle of the couch makes me feel a lot better too about this lasting us a long time, and I like that the cushions Velcro to stay in place. **i just wanted to update months later about how things have held up, the cushions have gotten much cozier but still have their shape. I’ve spot cleaned and also removed the cushion coveres and washed on a cold cycle twice now(dry very low heat/delicates). The color hasn’t faded, the fabric still looks great, and it’s held up really well especially for having young kids on it daily. I’d still totally recommend this sofa! Anyone complaining about cushions sagging and not being able to flip them- you just make sure to rotate once in a while and also just take the cushion cover off and flip the insert. Any couch is going to sag if you don’t rotate things- just like mattresses. This couch is a *great* buy.

Beautiful, but that's about it.
The couch is a gorgeous piece, and as soon as it arrived I was blown away. It wasn't long before I realized that it's not much more than pretty. I've owned it for a little over a year and both cushions are torn at the zippers, which happened within the first six months - AND prior to washing them even once. The wool-esque fabric the cushions are made from are sewn to very thing polyester lining that wasn't finished correctly on the seams, and will continue to tear out over time. Luckily I sew, so once they began ripping I was able to repair them and make sure it didn't continue. The average consumer likely wouldn't be able to prevent this from happening, or repair it once it does. The couch doesn't see any heavy or abnormal use, and has never been moved since I unpackaged it. The metal bar where the cushions meet the back of the couch is almost tearing through the couch fabric, and has become increasingly uncomfortable to sit on, as it protrudes and hits my back and hip bones whenever I lean against the back of the couch. I'll likely have to replace this couch within the next 6 months. For the cost, there is absolutely ZERO value and I will not be purchasing another piece of furniture from Modway. A sofa should hold up to "normal" use for more than six months. Especially for $900+ dollars. TL:DR, It's pretty, but it isn't built to last. Save you money and spend it elsewhere.

Stylish, firm, and gorgeous but a problem leg..
I bought this chair a year ago. I do really like it but keep in mind, it is large and it is firm to sit on. The cushion and the linen like fabric has maintained its shape, quality, and firmness after a year, and the luscious colour is just as glorious today as a year ago. It was easy to put the legs on - but, like one other reviewer remarked, the hole drilled on the front left side of the chair is off kilter and is stripped or something because the leg will not screw into it at a proper angle and now the leg keeps falling off. I'm going to just glue it in place. Also, when I first unpacked the chair there were some sharp upholstery staples sticking out on the side - watch out for that. I used pliers to pull them out and that was fine. I love the style and colour especially for the price. But because of the ill-fitting leg, I couldn't give it more than 3 stars.
