Sailor Fountain Pen, Pigment Bottle Ink, 1.7 fl oz (50 ml), Ultra Black 13-2002-220

I have been using this ink for years now, and won't use anything else, one reason is it's resistance to feathering on cheap copy type paper we use at work...for me, this works very well on cheap paper. Nice solid black color, flows well, looks great on the page...does everything well. I hope Sailor never discontinues this ink! Despite the "pigment" description, I have never had any issue with clogging feeds or nibs, and I've had pens sit for months with this ink, unused, and a little drop of water restores flow, like it never happened. It's worth mentioning that this ink has a distinct odor, it's not bad, but smells more like chemicals than the typical fountain pen ink...maybe that is its secret! Also makes it easy to figure out if it's Kiwaguro in the pen, just sniff the feed! Can't say enough good about this ink! A+++

Love this ink. I use it in my lumos pen and it flows beautifully. Also I like that it doesn’t smudge too much to. It’s not bleeding through my papers like my speedball ink did. And it didn’t run too much either whenever I spilled water all over my desk onto my open journal. Will definitely be ordering again.

Lovely dark black and most importantly to me, it doesn’t bleed, shadow or feather! I am truly amazed. All the other brands I have tried have some or all of these problems. Works great on cheap copy paper and also happy planner paper. No show through!! Photos included.

I've reduced my rating to 4 stars. Initially I gave it 5 stars because it is very black (it does not smudge blue either like some "black" inks), and it listed that it was water resistant. After having painted over it, I can say that it does have a slight bit more water resistant than my previous paint, but it's not quite there. Despite really liking this ink I do some watercolor paintings here and there and it's just not quite there for water resistance. As a left hander it does not smudge much under the hand though... and it is not impossible to wash off your hand while it does stick to paper pretty well. buuuut... Platinum carbon ink smudges less under watercolor paints with a lot of water. IF I did not watercolor I would be very happy with the color and flow of this ink though and it would be an easy 5 star.

My best performing ink on horrible paper. Well lubricated, permanent, etc. etc. Just note that of course you have to be careful with these permanent inks. Don't use it in a pen/converter that can't easily be disassembled/have a q-tip stuck into it to wash off leftover pigment particles. I personally found that letting soapy water sit in the converter for about a day did a good job of removing it from the walls of my converter, but please be careful. It doesn't actually interfere with anything once it's stuck there, but it does kinda look ugly lol.

UPDATE: NOT waterproof, water resistant. If you want to use this for art and go back over it, this ink it will blur and smear. (last picture: I let ink dry overnight and added a drop of water). I'm not knocking a star off, though, because it's only advertised as water resistant; I'd seen some ink reviews that said waterproof. The first picture is on Tomoe River to show the ink at its absolute best (within the confines of my abilities, anyway), then in the second it shows that the ink is nearly as good on Southworth parchment. I used a gillott 303 nib on a dip pen. Beautiful, well-behaved ink, and it's waterproof, so it's excellent for addressing envelopes.

As a left handed person, it is important to find ink that dries quick enough to ensure there is no smudging (depends on how each left handed person writes though). This ink paired with the TWSBI ECO EF nib fountain pen works really really well! Upon writing, the ink is really dark, and once dry its color remains the same as it was when initially writing. It might depend on the paper you use though as in the video, I’m using Timor River S paper that’s from my Hobonichi Techo Cousin. Overall, this ink is beautiful to write with and I love how smooth it is as well. Defo would buy again and would recommend! UPDATE: I tried this ink on cheaper quality paper and it doesn’t bleed through compared to another ink I tried/have. It also doesn’t feather when writing. So the ink is really good quality I would say!

Eine Tinte, die einen sehr einzigartigen Farbton hat (nicht tiefschwarz, etwas heller) und extrem schnell trocknet. Ist man Rechtshänder und schreibt eine rechtsbündige Sprache eine sehr wichtige Qualität der Tinte. Außerdem hat die Tinte einen leicht metallischen Geruch, der nicht unangehm ist. Definitiv nicht die günstigste Tinte auf Amazon, aber eine, bei der man die Qualität merkt.

Encre "Kiwaguro" Sailor – Flacon de 50 ml Version 2018 Code : 4901680184508 Fabriqué au Japon. Dimensions du flacon : 5.00 x 4.50 x hauteur 5.00 cm (7.00 cm environ avec le bouchon). Le flacon de 50 ml est conditionné dans une simple boîte de carton léger non pelliculé. Le graphisme est sobre, épuré, en nippon. L'encrier en verre cristallin épais, est de belle qualité et finition. Bien que les arêtes vives ne trouvent pas grâce à mes yeux. Je les trouve monotones. La bouteille est conçue pour une appréciable stabilité sur le bureau. "Kiwaguro" est une encre noire particulièrement pigmentée. Elle dégage un fort parfum, une bonne senteur d'encre, une odeur de bonne encre. Je l'utilise avec une plume medium-fine Sailor Profit Junior (+ convertisseur). Sur du "Tomoe River" (52 g/m²), elle se révèle bien noire, couvrante, lustrée, avec un joli reflet argenté régulier lorsqu'elle est sèche. Les rectos/versos des feuillets écrits présentent des reliefs perceptibles à l'œil et au doigté ! Pour avoir malencontreusement mouillé le papier avec une petite touche d'eau, le tracé (que je n'ai pas touché) n'a pas bougé. Ouf ! Heureusement, il avait au préalable bien séché. De par cet incident, l'encre montre une bonne résistance à l'humidité, l'eau. De là à affirmer qu'elle est parfaitement résistante, je ne m'aventurerai pas dans un domaine qui dépasse mes compétences. En revanche, j'ai dû renoncer avec une fine Procolor Sailor : l'encre manque d'intensité, le débit est faible, la plume avance avec retenue, comme freinée par l'épaisseur du fluide. En comparaison avec les Sailor "Jentle", je sens la "Kiwaguro" moins fluide et lubrifiante, avec une tendance à moins s'épater (s'étaler) sur le papier. L'encre pigmentée met beaucoup plus de temps avant de sécher totalement. Après avoir rédigé une feuille A4, j'ai attendu un peu avant de continuer au verso. Au final, le guide-ligne comporte des traces d'encres du recto, de la première à la dernière ligne. Je crains qu'un buvard atténue les effets de cette encre. Le "Tomoe River" contient et retient fort bien l'encre. Ce qui pourrait expliquer la lenteur du séchage de l'encre. Sur du papier Rhodia 90 g/m², au tracé de la medium-fine Profit Junior, le rendu lustré-argenté est légèrement moins prononcé, le relief tactile moins manifeste. L'encre est plus vite absorbée. Les rectos demeurent un peu moins imprimés via les versos. L'épaisseur du papier atténue probablement la force d'appui de la plume quand elle passe au verso. L'encre s'épaissit et encrasse rapidement plume et conduit : deux ou trois remplissages successifs, entre 10 jours d'inactivité ont ralenti l'entrain de la plume, influant sur un débit irrégulier. Le liquide se consume et sèche rapidement, finit par bien s'accrocher aux parois du convertisseur. J'ai dû faire descendre le piston, le temps d'achever un paragraphe. J'ai compris pourquoi l'encre pigmentaire implique une utilisation continue, des nettoyages très fréquents, à ne pas être stockée dans le stylo en cas d'inactivité. Je n'aventurerai pas mes stylos-plume de valeur. Moyennant dix neuf euros frais de port compris du Pays du soleil levant, le coût d'achat semble relever du raisonnable. Je regrette surtout les formes en rondeurs de l'ancien flacon (le prix a flambé). Avec son aspect artisanal, il était agréable à toucher et à contempler entre deux trêves de rêverie. Il contenait une sorte de coupelle en plastique tendre qui facilitait le prélèvement par le bloc de plume. Accessoire devenu optionnel et semi rigide (plexi-glass) * avec le dernier flaconnage, de 50 ml, je précise. A ma connaissance, il n'en existe pas à ce jour, un de compatible avec la mini bouteille de 20 ml. * Ink square bottle ink reservoir N.B. : Les effets de cette encre sont décuplés avec une plume calligraphique Brause Bandzug. Son nettoyage également...

I am using from 10 days in my lammy vista EF nib pen. It is smooth, very dark and have good quality. The only one problem is I think you need to wash your pen after 10 days.
