Fray Bentos Just Steak Pie 475g

My favorite meal, but expensive in the United States since it has to be imported from the United Kingdom. Nice flaky crust, tender, juicy delicious steak inside. US customs banned importation for years due to a ban in the EU of American beef, nothing to due with these canned meat pies. The ban drove up the price and led to a scarcity of Bentos in American markets and specialty stores.

Steak? Very hard to find. Sauce was tasty, however.

This last batch of steak pies had very little meat in them. The manufacturer must have cut way back and the pie was almost all pastry and gravy. Very disappointing. At the cost to import & buy these pies, and with the tiny bit of meat in them I will no longer be ordering them.

I've been eating these pies for forty years, I love them! Especially the Just Steak variety. I have a big appetite so I could eat two for dinner. They are expensive to import because of needless and burdensome import restrictions by the US government. Nice fluffy pastry crust, delicious beef filling.

This just goes to show that you should never order something from overseas just because it's mentioned in the lyrics of a song that you like. The crust was good, but the filling was almost all gravy. In the picture, they've moved every bit of the meat onto the fork.

I used to eat meat pies, when I was a boy, in the UK. When I came back to America, I bought my first Bento's at a Giant Grocery store's international section in Fredericksburg, VA. But, alas I have not had one since the 1980's until I found them available online and ordered one recently and it was awesome. I'd have given it 5 stars if they'd put more meat on it. They are kind of conservative in the meat department,. however, I still loved it. Thank You Bentos for making a delicious meat pastry.

Just as I remembered it . just very expensive with shipping.

I will be honest - I did not know what to expect but this was really good. Think of sliced beef and gravy cooked under puff pastry. This has a pot pie feel (but in a can). I really enjoyed it. I wish I had another one (order coming or I am going to try to recreate it).
