Nice fan Good performance
I really like my Hunter fans, so I bought another. This is a very nice fan and is just as nice. I only have one complaint and that is where they put the switch to change the fan directions, under the light shade?!?!?!?! Still like it because it does an excellent job of moving the air, it is very quiet and is quite a good looking fan.

Highly recommend, good materials
We have three of these systems now. Highly recommend, good materials, good instructions, quiet operation, and looks great. The blades have a special coating to keep the dust from collecting. That works fine, but the dust collects on the trailing edge of the blades. No big deal but there is an easy fix if they manufactured them like at aircraft wind.

Mostly nice looking fan that misses on several points and one major design flaw
There are many little issues and the reasons I cannot recommend. The instructions are not the best, not terrible, but I wish manufactures would actually give manuals to someone who has never installed one to find the bugs. There is at least one mistake. As mentioned elsewhere, the reverse switch is not easily accessible. How can Hunter design a fan with a inaccessible switch and not put it on the remote? Major design flaw. If you don't plan on using the switch then this isn't an issue, but don't plan on every using it, its that hard to access.Couple times I had problems assembling with the parts provided. In one case I had to dig a longer screw out of my parts bin.Not crazy about the blade look. A $250 should have blades that look more upscale.Light is not very bright. Good auxiliary lighting, but don't plan on lighting up your room.Florescent light bulbs use these funky pin base mounts. Why do this? Why not just use a standard screw in bulb that is highly available. Who uses Florescents anymore?I will say its a nice looking fan, with exception to the blades, quiet and didn't wobble without balancing...which it should. In short, unless you love the looks I would pass. In would no way consider paying the $250 price. I paid $175, which took the sting out of the many dissapointments.

Great Fan With One Minor Drawback
Purchased this to replace a 20 year old Hunter fan and haven't been disappointed. I was leery to purchase on Amazon but it arrive without any broken glass. It was easy to install (other than the fact that it was on a 16 foot cathedral ceiling) and looks great. It would have gotten 5 stars but I took one away because it doesn't come with standard light sockets. I realized this after ordering it and looking on Hunters website that it came with the GU24 style sockets (and 2 fluorescent bulbs). I'm not a fan (no pun intended) of compact fluorescent bulbs as they take a while to heat up and get to full brightness. Also being that this was being mounted 16 feet in the air, I wanted LED bulbs. I found a converter/adapter to the GU24 connection on Amazon (search "GU24 to E26 / E27 Adapters, JACKYLED" on Amazon and its the first one) and then purchased LED bulbs that fit (Philips 452805 75 Watt SlimStyle"). The connector plus the bulbs just BARELY fit in the enclosed light, but it works like a charm and has for over 10 months now.

Skip this fan! It looks nice, but......
I have had a version of this fan in my past 2 homes. This style redesign is terrible!! It is noisy, hard to install and taking it apart to change the light bulbs is a nightmare! Speaking of the light bulbs - you must use CFLs that are $9 a piece - they are the ones with the weird end pieces that plug in rather than screw in - neither our Home Depot or Lowes carry them in stock. The florescent bright light is awful for a living room dining room or bedroom and you can't soften the light. You have to take it apart to change the direction of the fan too - the older models had a button on the remote. The remote for this fan is flimsy and cheap. The overall quality of the product is dismal. I'm a fan of Hunter, but this fan is just awful.

Defective and poor support
This review is for the Hunter 59053 fan. I have bought and installed this fan plus two earlier versions, 21627 and 21628. The outer appearance is the same but the remote, receiver, and light kit have been redesigned for the latest version. The redesign has made the installation easier and the function may have improved as well. Older versions tended to turn the light or fan on intermittently without a command from the remote. Light output seems better and the fan now remembers the previous setting when power is cycled at the wall switch. However, the remote no longer controls the fan direction. The only way to reverse the fan now is to remove the light trim ring and globe to toggle an internal switch. This may be extremely inconvenient for some as the installation / removal of the light trim ring and globe can be a difficult procedure.I decided to purchase a second 59053 fan before writing this review. We needed two and I had no problems with either the installation or function of the first fan. Installation of the second fan was problematic.First I found that the motor housing assembly wobbles radially when rotated. I don't know if the motor housing is out-of-round or offset, but it looks bad. Then I discovered that one of the mounting holes for the light kit wasn't tapped all the way through and the supplied screw broke off inside. It wasn't cross-threaded, it started normally and then became bound after several turns. It was these two issues and the Hunter customer service response that prompted this negative review. The Hunter customer service rep told me to try mounting the light kit with two of the three mounting screws and, if this wasn't satisfactory, to return the fan to where I bought it. He offered no explanation or solution for the motor housing problem. This was the extent of their assistance.Well it's going back to Amazon, at least they stand behind what they sell, even if the manufacturer doesn't.

Great looking and working Fan!
Have had this now for 6 months and no complaints. It is quiet and attractive with a modern look. The light bulb it comes with is very dim, suggest you get a brighter bulb off of Amazon.
