Armitron Sport Men's 40/8254BLK Black Digital Chronograph Watch

I am a fan of Casio and own many of their watches. I bought the Casio ae1500, great big display that’s easy to read for old eyes. But the backlight isn’t that strong. I figured I would try this watch. The negative display is hard to read if not angled in the right light, but at night the EL lighted display is great. Although the display is not as big as the Casio, it’s still easy to read. I got this Amazon renewed for $10, looks like it wasn’t even used and still had display sticker on on it. One thing I will say about it is the watch band is way better than what Casio ae1500 gives at the same price point as Armitron gives you a real high quality metal buckle where Casio gives you a plastic one. Even at full price this Armitron is well worth the money. Oh ya it has a plastic 120 click bezel which is fun to play with. If they had this black version in a positive display that would have been even better.

Nice, big watch with a sharp, chirpy alarm. Display is pretty cool as it is the dark mineral glass, which seems to be getting traction these days. Of course, some will bitch about it being too subdued or dark, and gripe about contrast. It's just a clean large pathfiner-esque styled watch with few features at a very low price. Wears comfortably and looks great. This thing won't light up the room, but push the backlight button in the dark and it becomes bright enough to get the job done. I think it's cool looking and Armitrons generally go a couple years with a battery. Should be a good, reliable big watch for years to come. Oh, and it keeps good time.

As others have pointed out, the display is hard to read, but only in low-lighting! Which is where the backlight comes in, and I must say it looks quite lovely. I love everything about this watch... comfortable to wear, simple functions (didn't even read the manual and set everything just fine), and very stylish. Looks far more expensive than it actually is... reminds me a lot of a Suunto watch. I'm a watch collector, and bought this watch as a "work beater", and I couldn't be happier. I haven't had it long enough to attest to its durability, but unless I update this review you can safely assume it's holding up beautifully. EDIT 3/27/15: I've smacked it pretty good a couple of times, and it's still holding up nicely. Can't even tell where it was struck, to be honest. Resilient little bugger!

For the cost of watches like this, I can't understand why anyone would buy the no name watches, just below this price point. For under $25 and in most cases, under $20, you're getting a watch with: Dual Time Timer Stop Watch Alarm Calendar Chronograph Countdown Military Time Capability Luminescent Display Water Resistance That's pretty much all you really need for nearly any regular task or use. If you need much more, you wouldn't even be looking at a watch like this. Overall, this watch functions very well. Everything works as it should. Yes, the other reviewers are correct, the display is hard to read in direct light. Also, the strap is a little rigid initially. Outside of those two things, this is really a nice watch for this type of money. In sum, I feel very comfortable recommending this watch. However, again, please know the display is hard to read in direct sunlight and factor that into your decision! Cheers!

I'm somewhere between meh and like on this watch. It has a very big face which is fine...I like the big digital read-out. The alarm is nice and loud so I can still hear it if my arm is under my pillow. It's also pretty easy to operate and I do like the overall style. What I don't like: 1: The "compass" dial does not stay in place. If it touches something it will move. My slight OCD doesn't care for that! 2: The "negative" digital display is easy to read...IF you hold it at the right angle and there's a lot of light. At dusk or in a room with poor lighting you will have to use the light button. 3: The light button doesn't have enough illumination. So when it's dusk and there's barely enough light for you to see the read-out and you push the light button you still can't really see it. The light is just too weak! 4: The face is polarized. At certain angles while wearing polarized sunglasses...you see nothing. Not that big a deal...just being nit picky. Maybe the battery is weak on the one I got? If/when I change it out I'll post an update. If I had it to do over again...I'd probably buy the Timex Men's T499509J in hopes of a better display.

You can always see the current time in any setting that you scroll through. 👍 It has a great display size, and just a glint of sunlight will illuminate the face in the daytime, and a nice looking backlight with sufficient time illuminates the time in the dark. I haven't found a use for the rotating bezel, but I don't feel strongly about it, one way or the other. This watch uses a CR2025 battery. I have no idea why that was impossible to find online, but I changed mine out, and it was easily done with simple watch kit tools.

This has been for me a good watch for the money. It has all the basic functions, and more for a watch. I purchased this for my dress code. (A black watch) The count down function, and timing I use the most. I like that it stays in military time with date at the bottom. If you like slightly bigger face watches, you will really enjoy this one. I will be diving with this watch and will update on the water resists! There are videos on YouTube going through all the functions of this Armitron. Cannot go wrong with purchasing this item, I highly recommend! Update 12/2014. This watch made it through basic training. There is wear on the white labeling on the watch, and at times the bottoms would be pressed during some movements. Other than those two minor things the watch is still holding up well. A little beat up, but I still wear it. I received several complements on this watch and would reply with what I paid around twenty bucks. This got people excited. Maybe it looks like some high end watch? I will purchase this brand again. This is a great watch for the price. I have had it for a few months now and I have put some real abuse on it and the watch has held up wonderfully. The buttons are easy to press and I don't find it hard to read the information on the screen. I also really like how the band's excess strap is held securely in place by both a raised "bump" on the excess end of the band and the strap holder. I only have two complaints, but they are minor and easily overlooked. First, the rotating "compass" on the face of the band feels cheap and second, the watch is not as comfortable as my far more expensive G-Shock that it replaced. However, after a few times of wearing it, you get used to the rough edges of the watch's bottom. Overall, I'd highly recommend this watch to anyone who needs something durable and stylish for work and play.

Great watch easy to use perfect for day to day use regardless of your job

Buen reloj, muy interesante, el empaque como llegó solo (en una bolsa) venía con la caja abollada, el producto en perfecto estado, en cuanto a estética es un reloj grande ya para ser usado por adolescentes o mayores, tiene particularidades interesantes, la primera es que puede usarse en la aventura o en la chamba, parece más de uso rudo, sus números son grandes y de aquí paso a su funcionamiento y su visibilidad, su fondo es oscuro lo cual lo hace muy práctico y nítido para verlo al sol, a la sombra tiene una lectura buena, regular y en lo oscuro es sentido común que se ve con su iluminación la cual es tenue pero suficiente, por el precio tiene muchas más ventajas que desventajas, tiene funciones básicas como alarma, cronómetro, temporizador regresivo y hora alterna, físicamente tiene corona giratoria para orientarse con respecto al note, ideal para scouts (no trae brujula, no se confundan) en lo general es un reloj diferente a la media, elegante y apto para durar, ya veremos con los meses. Es difícil encontrar un reloj con personalidad propia y éste la tiene. Es resistente al agua, lo tuve sumergido unos minutos y como si nada.

It's an awesome watch to have ... Worth every penny ... Don't worry about backlight, it is low but manageable. Little bigger dial, and strap quality is good. Just that delivery can be little quick ☺
