This is a reliable k-type thermocouple wire probe with a K-Type sensor. The sensor is at the tip of a 33 ft (10 meter) long wire probe, which has a durable green Teflon FEP high temperature plastic coating. This teflon based insulation is easier to clean than fiber glass insulation. Each of the two AWG30 wires has it's own ANSI yellow/red color coded insulation, and then two together have the brown outer insulation. It has a miniature type connector that will work with any digital K-type thermometer. This k type thermocouple can be used to measure air or gas temperatures, it can be attached to pipes or embedded into objects you want to measure. K type thermocouples are frequently used by scientists in the laboratory for chemistry, biology and physics. It can be used in schools, colleges and university, and it is great sensor for science fair projects. In engineering it is frequently used in measuring curing concrete in large construction projects. It can measure very low temperatures, down to - 328 degree F Fahrenheit, or -200 degree Celsius. It is important that the electronic k type thermometer is also rated to this low temperature. It can be used with digital thermometers from Fluke, Omega and Nicety, as long as they are k-type thermometers.

Not for homebrew
I bought this based on the above description stating that it works in air and water ("It can be used to measure the temperature of air or liquids."). Written on the packaging of the probe when it arrived:"Application: Suitabla for quickly Measuring air aud gas And not liquid"I am disappointed but I will try it in water anyway as it does not look too different from previous k-types I have used. If it works, I will report it here. However I will leave the review at one-star until the seller amends their description or confirms that the warning label is inaccurate.Other notes:- The wire on this probe is stiff but will retain its shape if bent.- It looks soldered at the tip and I infer that it is probably a SbInAg alloy due to the reported temperature range. However I can't be sure that it is not a lead solder.Other info from the package:Temp range -50-204CAccuracy: <400C +-2.5C or +-0.75%rdgModel TP-01

Nice Thermocouple for a great price
I used this thermocouple in a home brew BBQ smoker. It's been working great for several monthsnow with accurate readings despite living in a very hostile environment. I check it aboutonce a month in boiling water and it reads +/- 1 deg of 212F
