Canon PG-40 Genuine Black Ink Cartridge, Compatible with iP2600/1800/1700/1600, MX310/300, MP470/460/450/210/170/160/150/140/180/190, JX200/210P

Even though pricey this was the best deal I could find for a Canon factory new toner. I've tried to save cash getting refilled or remanufactured ones and these printers are like computers now with downloads and updates and I believe (without any proof) that they know a black market cartridge. I remember my brother told me a story when I was around 11. I asked if he knew where our parents light bulbs were? He got me one and said you know I was reading (in one of his science magazines) that they have the technology to make a lightbulb that would last forever or at least our life time. I said, where do we get those? He said you can't... corporations like G.E. would never allow it and I believe him. Sooooo, I buckled and went new, paid right at $20 for 1 small toner cartridge and only used it twice but so far so good. I should get around 300 shipping label pages out of it over time. That's my hope. :)

I don't use my Canon Pixma iP 1600 very often because of the price of ink. This ink is the same price as the first time I ordered it on Amazon in Oct 2011. I love this printer so much, I'm on my second and have just ordered my third as a spare, in case I can't find one again, I'm sure they don't make them any more. A long time ago I bought cheap ink for my printer instead of the Canon ink, it messed my printer up and I had to purchase a new one. It turned out to be an expensive mistake. Yes the ink is expensive, but this is not as expensive as some, which you often have to pay postage. I'm not against purchasing something else to get the free shipping. There are so many things on Amazon in my wish lists. To buy this ink locally both the black and color, are five dollars more, if they are available, then you pay tax. It's easy just to buy it here here. I will keep buying it on Amazon until I can't find it any more, hopefully that won't be for a long time. I've been using it for many years with no complaints.

Previously I was able to purchase this ink cartridge at a local retailer but apparently they discontinued it. I searched on Amazon and was very happy to find it there. I have only printed a few pages so far, but everything looks good! I would not hesitate to purchase it again online when necessary.

I personally like getting the brand new ink from the stores versus the refills because the brand new ink is recognized by my Canon MX310 printer (for this ink). If I get a refill from one of the local stores then my printer cannot read the ink and constantly gives me an error message. Eventually, I have to reset the entire printer to just ignore the levels and wait until the ink runs out before I go get another refill. However, I don't get anything else out of the brand new ink refills. If it normally prints 150 pages with the refill ink that is also what I get with a brand new ink. The prints look exactly the same with either a brand new one or a refill. The biggest problem I have is that after using refill inks for about a year my printer took a dump. It's probably the printer head but I'm not paying $70 for a replacement. I don't know if it's just old age or the refills that caused it. The reason that I took 1 star off is because the price for this ink is still really high. I used to complain when the university library charged us 10 cents per page printed but now I know why! The amount of papers that are printed out of this cartridge seems really low. I know that the printer itself might be the cause and I have purchased a different one, but the price of this brand new ink is very high for the amount of pages that I get out of it. I used to purchase it in a bundle through Costco but if you just want one then it's cheaper here (usually). If you don't have a membership to Costco then you can't exactly buy it from them either! If you set your printer to print on "draft" or a similar setting then you should get more pages printed. The price for a brand new one is double a refill usually so if you don't care about the error message or ignoring the ink levels then you should consider the ink refills. I know people swear by using new ink, though, and I usually prefer the new ink just because of being able to see the ink levels.

Same great product at a much cheaper price! This ink seems to last me a couple months when I am in school, printing 20-30 pages a day. I have never had an issue with smudging, poor saturation, noise lines, etc. I spent too many years buying this from office supply stores for $25+, when the same quality could have been found here for half of the price. I love being able to print out notes for my courses, but because of the high ink prices I would often adjust the saturation (opting to print gray text) settings to get the most out of my ink. Now, I can print without worrying of forking over $25 bucks every couple months. Also, don't be afraid to really press down when removing your empty ink cartridge from your printer. I was a bit paranoid that I would break my printer so it took my a while to figure it out. I find that my canon printer doesnt alert me when I am running dangerously low, so I always keep a spare for emergency printing. Additionally, this seller was very prompt. My package arrived within 2 days. Pros: -Great quality ink. No smudging or noise lines. -Great price Cons: None!

Does exactly what it's suppose to do. I've occasionally used compatible cartridges with my Canon printer but you do get some problems. Canon cartridges may be more expensive, but they never fail to work.
