Better than average for him use
This is my first Hikvision install, having used Dahua and Vivotek before. I switched from an older, lower resolution bullet camera to this 4MP dome model. Picture quality is above average and once I changed the IP address to match my network, the admin web browser opened for settings adjustments. The good:1. Decent English instructions! It was advertised as the US model and it was. I've installed enough cameras now that it wouldn't have mattered if there weren't any English manuals, but most people would appreciate having them.2. Solid construction with an all metal body and smoothly machined parts. No burrs or iffy screw holes noted.3. A full set of basic accessories for mounting and installation software. I used a Hikvision right angle wall mount which was also of solid quality. The Bad:1. As usual, the default IP address must be changed to match your own network and subnet, which requires some basic networking knowledge. The complete novice should read up on this topic before getting bogged down wondering why they can't access the camera.2. Nonstandard accessory mounts. It would be great if all IP cams had a standard base that would allow mixing and matching other mounts.

Professional level camera
Currently using this camera with ZoneManager NVR software. But concidering a switch to HikVision's NVR software. Camera is capable of better than HD image resolution at 4M. Can see well down my street in pitch black (no street lights) nights. If a car pulls into the end of my 55 foot driveway I can read the plate! Solid camera!!
