Can regular "old school" bulbs be used?

yes, we used a standard bulb. There is a restrictions on how many watts. I think 100? I don't remember but its on the tag. The quality of the lamp was better than I expected and it matched very expensive alabaster fixtures we have in the same room. I definitely would buy it again

Do you know where I can get a replacement shade for a lamp like this?

I replaced mine. lamp glass.nu #9881 But the price was as much as the purchase of a new lamp.

In the 2nd photo it show the the marble-like piece near the chain pulls is in dark color but also the other photos show that it's light? Which is it?

It is a dark marble look piece. Not sure what the material is.

What is the width of the shade

The shade measures roughly 16" across the bottom. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to contact us at 877-704-2425 or amazonsales@lampsplus.com. We're happy to help! - The Lamps Plus Team
