Almost perfect...
4.95 Stars--Nothing is 100% Perfect! Have used washable pads for years, but after 100s of washes, it was becoming difficult to get all the odor out, even with a vinegar pre-soak and final rinse. Ick! Shied away from disposables due to the price, but after a couple of weeks, I am convinced. No discernible odors are present while in place, or in the trash bag (keep a special one in garage) and sure beats doing so much laundry. Started out putting these and the old ones down so the dogs (Chi girl and Terrier Mix boy) would understand what these were for--they adapted well. My boy is on a diuretic, so after years of perfect house training, has a little difficulty holding it all night. He goes a LOT (often and quantity), so I will occasionally notice the slightest bit of dampness under the pad--this may be my fault for not changing quickly enough. But so far, no 'lakes on the floor' like when he would miss the washable type. Pleased so far. Really like the adhesive corners, just using two (catty-corner) keep these in place--which was often a problem with the washable type. No discernible residue on hard wood floor. Also bought another brand as a comparison, but have not as yet tried--why mess with success!? My only real 'criticism' is that it can be tricky to know whether they've used them! Absorbency is so efficient, you may not know there has been a 'deposit' until it REALLY needs changing! If you are on the fence, give these a try, I think you'll be happy. Good luck! Update 10-9-2020 Wow, these really are good. They ONLY time there has been leakage is when I waited too long to change out (see comment above re knowing whether its been used), The other brand (also mentioned above) worked well too, but much smaller (24x24). I am using those as a supplemental pad, but will be sticking with this Barkbox Charcoal pads. Upgrade to Full Five Stars.

The best pee pads you'll ever find!!
It feels weird to be this excited over pee pads but I am. My dog is older and starting to have trouble holding it. He's been potty trained from a young age so I havent really had to worry with buying pee pads until recently. Rocky is a 95lb lab who pees A LOT! I was buying cheap pads before and constantly having leaks and having to clean up daily. When I bought these I debated between the large and extra large. I ended up going with the large because you get 30 extra pads and I'm glad I did. They work great. Some days Rocky soaks these while I'm at work and they still dont leak! They also dont smell (well not like pee anyway). I can always tell when Rocky has peed on one but not in a bad way, it just has a minor distinct smell (I think it's the charcoal). But I dont think anyone else would be able to pick up on what it is (I've just learned that that smell means he peed on a pad). The only complaint that I had was the packaging. They are packed so tight that its almost impossible to get them out of the box without tearing them!

These Pee Pads Light Up My Life
Love these. Negatives: The backing easily tears against even a fingernail when I pulled some out of the tightly packed box and I’m not entirely convinced it prevents liquid from seeping through—it could very well be me in that I need to level up to the more absorbent pads. Positives: Aesthetic design, charcoal included to eliminate odors, and (best of all!) little sticky tabs on the backside of each corner that prevent your pup from tripping on it, bunching or chewing it up, or drifting out of its intended spot. Also, they come neatly packed in a box, which is easier to store than a plastic bag that others come in. Bonus bonus points: Barkbox included a short, easy-to-read, illustrated pamphlet with good ideas on how to get your puppy or senior dog to use the pads. They also provided a phone number for you to call and ask for help or potty training advice from experienced trainers. I keep waiting for the shoe to drop with this company because I have been buying various products from them for years and have been so impressed with them. They’re definitely going to change the market standards for pet products and customer service. 10/10 Will buy again.

Like but needs improvement
I really like this product and will continue to use it but there are a couple of things I hope BarkBox can improve. Pros: Carbon reduces odor, love the black color, love the 4 sticky pads to keep it in place, good absorbancy. Cons but hope BarkBox will improve: Very slippery once dog pees on it! The top layer separates from the carbon layer once wet and you and your dog need to be careful not to slip on it. See picture. This is very different from regular white pee pads with no carbon. I'd also be concerned about the safety of using this product with a puppy that would chew up the pad. Is the carbon safe if ingested? I use mine for an elderly dog not a puppy. Overall, there is a lot to love about this product. I hope BarkBox will make a few improvements and then it will be perfect!

Love, love, love! Great for my geriatric dog.
These puppy pads are worth every dollar. I have a 14-year-old papillon with bladder and bowel issues, so my entire house is covered in puppy pads on any given day. I was using regular, scented store-bought brands and, while they were absorbent, I threw them away after 1 use because of the odor and the unsightliness of a big, yellow, puddle on the pad. The dark color of these helps with that sight so that you can keep them out for additional use. Also, the odor reducing property of the charcoal is fabulous! I can’t smell dog urine unless I get super close to the source! The sticky tabs on the bottom are fabulous also. They won’t stop a big dog from destroying them, but they will stay in place for your pup to do its business and keep from shifting out from under them and accidentally going on the floor/carpet around the pad.

Good product, could use more adhesion
I love how urine "disappears" on these charcoal pads. They are absorbent, and they don't smell bad so long as you keep your pup well hydrated. Super concentrated urine will always smell bad. I don't know it was because we tried for a while, but it seems our pupper is more willing to use these than the other pads we had ordered a few weeks ago. Accidents in the playpen have decreased and this home has gone 1 day without an accident. Previously, it was 0 days. We will continue to order for our younger puppy. Our puppy is a 3 month-old aussie weighing about 20lbs and the mediums work well for him. The only thing that could make this product better is if the adhesion was longer than 4 small rectangles on the corners, as my pupper loves to find an edge and start tearing up the pad after it has been soiled.

Pleasantly surprised!! LOVE
Love this product! SO much better than the other pads I’ve been using for the past several year. I have two chihuahuas around 5 pounds who are pad trained since I live in an apartment in the city and work a ways from home. Because the pads are almost double the size of the ones I was formerly using, a box of 40 lasts almost as long as the box of 85 I was buying in a different brand. Love the sticky corners, they’re not super glue- don’t expect to walk over them consistently yourself, but definitely help with the dogs not scooting them around or flipping them over (thank god). I have been pleasantly surprised at how well they help conceal the urine smell. I mean they’re not magic, dog waste is dog waste and it smells (especially when fresh), but these pads most definitely help limit the dried urine smell you might be familiar with if your a long time dog pad user. I have yet to see any urine spill over the edges, which is GREAT, especially since my dogs seem to be a fan of peeing near edges. After a full day use I have been able to feel the moisture at the back of the pad when disposing but the floor remains dry. I would recommend using a Lysol wipe or something to clean the floor under just because, but it’s really nice not to have a pool of liquid that needs to be dried up. This a lot better situation than with the other pads I was using. I was a little worried by dogs would avoid due to the change I color from white to grey but they didn’t! I personally like seeing a used pad with black patches instead of yellow and not being able to see the poo as clearly. Makes picking up the pad and animal waste less nauseating. I would definitely recommend trying out! I’m VERY happy I did. Very much worth the price!

Much better than a Standard Pee Pad
These worked super well for our older dog. It's great that you can stick them to the floor or to one another if needed. While they're just pee pads, they have a fun pattern on them. Overall they're much better than a standard pad. UPDATE: Since writing this update several months back, I've been working with a local rescue. I've gotten two litters of puppies in in the past month (6 pups - 3 in each group). I had some of these pads left over and have been using them. The sticky spots on the bottom have been a MASSIVE help. Pups love to make messes, including playing with the pad and moving it about. These are really hard to rip too, which is great! I didn't realize that I had gotten so low and ran out, so I got some standard pads at the local store. I wish I had gotten a small pack because they suck in comparison. Now I get to use 100 pads that the puppies have moved and destroyed.
