Our early ancestors didnโt brushโฆ didnโt flossโฆ didnโt get cavities.
Our early ancestors didnโt brushโฆ didnโt flossโฆ didnโt get cavities. This is my โgo toโ line because it seems that the more we brush and floss and use fluoride, the more cavities we get. Obviously, brushing and flossing arenโt the answer, but donโt tell this to the multi-billion dollar dental industry (nor to the allopathic dentist). We all have the ability to remineralize our teethโฆ to withstand acidic insultsโฆ to arrest and resist decay. Nutrition giants Weston A. Price & May Mellanby published the data proving the vital importance that the fat soluble vitamins A, D and K play in tooth remineralization. Wife is a biological dentist (of 20 years)โฆ I own a supplement company (yours truly). In fact, we developed a product together called โTooth Restoreโ that is rich in vitamins A, D, K, magnesium, phosphorus (and others)โฆ No, this is not a topical (nor) a toothpaste... it's food! This is not commercially available, nor does it need to be for people to glean the benefits, because as you know, nourishing food comes first. โ Vitamins A, D, and K2 cooperate synergistically not only with each other, but also with essential minerals like magnesium and zinc, with dietary fat, and with key metabolic factors like thyroid hormone * โ โ Vitamins A, D, and K2 interact synergistically to support energy metabolism, immune health, provide for adequate growth, support strong bones and teeth, and protect soft tissues from calcification * โ โ Magnesium is required for the production of all proteins, including those that interact with vitamins A and D * โ Grass Fed Beef Liver is high in real, preformed vitamin A. That said, if you are deficient in vitamin D, vitamin K2 and/or magnesium, you will not see as much benefit as you could (nor) will you be optimizing other important health metrics. Do you regularly get mid day sun exposure, or take a vitamin D3 supplement? Do you eat fermented veggies like kimchi or sauerkraut or take a vitamin K2 supplement? Do you take a magnesium supplement (I personally recommend a transdermal magnesium oil spray and oral supplementation because it's virtually impossible to get enough magnesium from diet alone). [ NOTE: Bone marrow is likely rich in vitamin K and the other fat-soluble nutrients, but formal tests to determine the range and amount remain to be carried out.[11] While smashing bones and sucking out the marrow fat was the hard way our ancestors obtained vitamin K, it's not that difficult to obtain marrow bones and either oven roast 3" pieces to serve as appetisers, or slow cook them to make them extra delicious / nutritious... or, look for a good bone marrow supplement! ] The take home message here is live life in harmony with nature, the way of our early ancestorsโฆ love your bone soups, look to liver, get sensible sun exposure, eat your fermented foods (natto reigns supreme) and mind your magnesium. If you want fresh breath, brush your teeth (see below). If you want oral health, nourish your body. People with periodontal issues (e.g. deep pockets, recurrent infection, bone loss/recession, etc) will also need additional support from whole bone extract (bone, marrow and cartilage), CoQ10 (or Beef Heart) and collagen. Ideally, we would consume these nourishing nutrients by indulging in the deliciousness of true bone broth, bone marrow and organ meats (heart is the richest source of CoQ10 that exists in nature). These additional nose-to-tail nutrients could easily be the missing link to the strength, energy and other health benefits that we are all after. P.S. For those that need intensive support to regain your dental strength and health, consider practicing a ketogenic diet as a "supplement" to everything above. Ketosis helps to deprive the bad bacteria of an energy source... less energy means less fermentation... means less acidic byproducts to demineralize teeth and bone (think recession)... Wife, the biological dentist, has been using this strategy with her patients for over a decade, way before it became "trendy!" It's also incredibly helpful to swish with sea salt water throughout the day, and especially after eating and drinking, to maintain a balanced pH. Lastly, Bovine Tracheal Cartilage (BTC) has proven to be incredibly helpful with treatment resistant conditions and wound healing (tons of peer reviewed studies on these topics). If you don't know about BTC, you need to because it works! - Ketogenic diet - Salt water rinses - Bovine Tracheal Cartilage (BTC) As far as brushing goes, by all means, do it when you feel like it... we recommend using a Bass brush (or) a chewing stick just like our early ancestors did which shows parallel, or even greater efficacy, as compared to standard brushing (see study). When we brush, we use a homemade concoction of bentonite clay, coconut oil, colloidal silver and sea salt with a dash of peppermint oil. There's even a commercial product out there by Uncle Harry's Natural Products that's very similar. SUPPLEMENT / FOOD SUMMARY FOR DENTAL HEALTH - Grass Fed Liver (and/or) Bovine Tracheal Cartilage - Grass Fed Bone Marrow - Magnesium... transdermal magnesium oil (by Ancient Minerals) applied to feet before bed and oral magnesium (by Trace Minerals; Mega Mag) - Vitamin D3 - get this from sensible sunshine or a supplement - Vitamin K2 - get this from fermented veggies, kimchi, sauerkraut or natto - Grass Fed Heart - get this if needing gum support too - Grass Fed Collagen - get this if needing gum support too UPDATE: Don't forget to "Avoid Dangers, Like Our Early Ancestors Did." Wife also makes her patients turn off their wifi routers at night, leave their cell phones out of the bedroom and remove electrical devices within a 12 foot radius of the bed (one's pillow should also not be near a power outlet). If you can get away from bathing in non-native EMFs, health and healing has a better chance. Many times, all you need to do is use an EMF meter to see where the fields have biological implications and then re-position the offensive device... sometimes you may need to re-position your bed, chair or sitting area.

This is a great product and I wish I had known about these for years
This is a great product and I wish I had known about these for years. First, I would like to say that miswak is the perfect thing for me as I always have to be chewing something. These give me something to chew on that actually benefits my teeth and oral health. It is not surprising that westerners do not know about these because if we did, I think the entire toothpaste/toothbrush/whitening etc. industry would be out of business. These should really be taught in dental school and suggested by dentists. At first the smell is a bit off-putting but, one gets use to over time and it seems that within a couple of days, most of the smell goes away. Also, I would note that the taste is not bad at all, and nothing like the smell. Certainly, soaking them for 4 hours as the instructions state and with some mint oil (as suggested by other users) seems to do the trick. This might be where people that cannot get the fibers into bristles are failing. I noticed that it dried out after a couple of days of only using it once a day and I had some trouble with making new bristles. But, if you use it multiple times a day and just chew on it for some time throughout the day, new bristles are easy to make. I think my teeth are a bit whiter, but I am usually a bad judge of such things and I imagine it takes more time to whiten than the chemicals would. I enjoy having something that I can clean my teeth with after every meal or time I drink tea or coffee that is very convenient and I do not have to run to a sink and risk getting toothpaste on my shirt. Also, it is nice to just get into bed, clean my teeth and go to sleep.

Awesome little "toothbrush"
I'd never heard of miswak or used it, but saw it recommended in a video for overall tooth care. (I'm in an all-out "gotta fix my teeth" phase right now). I LOVE the little tube and the piece of fabric, because I primarily bought miswak to use in the car after I have a coffee or a snack, driving around town for work. I wanted something that would help activate my saliva and clean my teeth since I can't be brushing my teeth in the car, haha. AND easy to store so it's not rolling around the glove compartment collecting dirt. This is the first one I've tried, but it seems like an excellent product. The packaging is great. After soaking, the strong smell is more palatable, and if you can get past it, after a day or so it takes on just a kind of "artichoke-like" scent. That's the way I'd describe it! It's actually quite soothing. I really love the feel of the "bristles" and chewing on it satisfies the dog side of my personality ;) I also like sucking on it after I rub it around my mouth. (So, for those who are orally fixated, it's win-win). I feel like it gets my teeth clean and smooth! I haven't noticed any major improvements other than that, since I've been using for only about a week and a half... so as for whitening or long-term benefits, I can't say. But it just feels good to use, and does an excellent job replacing an "on the go" toothbrush, and that's enough for me. One thing I don't love is the little bits of the bark sometimes flake off and I have to spit them out or, probably, end up swallowing some. It's not a big deal, and only a few small bits now and then. Maybe just the "way of miswak", but that's why it's 4 stars instead of 5. Or maybe I'm being too rough! I dunno. But hey, it's natural, so better bits of bark than plastic, right? Try it! It's natural, fun and will make your teeth feel smooth. I also have receding gums and it feels gentle enough to use so I'm not worried about aggravating anything.

"Hmm. Weird." (but awesome)
I came across these while looking for chewing products to help with my oral fixation after I quit smoking/vaping. I had never heard of these before but figured it couldn't hurt to have something to chew on and clean my teeth. PROS: 1) My teeth feel squeaky clean! 2) They have little to no taste (despite their temporary foul smell). 3) The tubes and drying cloth are pretty handy and the box is cute. 4) It definitely helps with my oral fixation but only for a couple of minutes before it gets slimy and the bristles start breaking off. So that's probably not a great use of this product. CONS: 1) The sticks smell horrifying for the first day or two. Like finding an old rotten potato in the back of your pantry. 2) I have to explain what it is every time someone sees me using it, and their reaction is often "Hmm. Weird." 3) They're pretty pricey compared to similar products on Amazon (these have the best reviews though). 4) My lips and tongue feel slightly numb/tingly after using it. I have no idea if that's normal or not though. I could just be slightly allergic to it, so that might be something to consider if you have food allergies. UPDATE - 12/13/19: I'm obsessed with these now. I keep one on me at all times. I've always been bad about remembering to brush my teeth at night so using this in between brushing has made my mouth look and feel amazing. The weird numbness I experienced hasn't happened since that very first use, so it must have been a coincidence. P.S. I highly recommend getting a cigar cutter for snipping and peeling the ends.

Natural way to clean your teeth
First time user here. I'm giving this product three stars because I just used it twice (last night and this morning) and will have to use more to see its effectiveness. When the package arrived, one of the two miswaks looks as if there was no bark at all..it's just white, while the other miswak looks like the picture on Amazon. I opened the white one and it's wet...not sure if that's normal. But I didn't see any mold, so I proceeded to use it anyway, following the photo instruction. I looked up online and most people said to just soak the part that you're going to use, which is one end of the stick. But the photo instruction shows the entire stick soaked in a glass full of water. I dunno. I followed the miswak's club photo instruction anyway. The smell is strong but I can only smell it when I sniff it. Smells green...like plants, so that's normal. I tried it last night and this morning, and it's pretty fun, actually, to nibble and see a pack of small fibers that is strong enough to be rubbed against my teeth lol. One or two fibers fell apart while I was brushing. I just spit them out. I like it that it's slim enough to reach the teeth in the back, which normally my small toothbrush can't. My teeth felt smooth after brushing. I like it so far. Will be given more review soon. Cheers!

BUYER BEWARE
VERY disappointed. I really was excited to use this product and when it first came, the first time use was great. BUT, the first stick turned black and moldy within 2 days even though I was careful to follow all instructions. So I thought maybe I made a mistake in the care and opened the second stick. BLACK AND MOLDY WITHIN 2 DAYS. I reached out to the vendor privately and receive zero response. This is why I am writing this review. Buyer Beware. Possibly just a bad batch but very poor customer service, like they could care less

Clean your teeth ANYWHERE + feels cleaner than just toothbrush
Ok get the 1 problem out of the way.....it does not smell or taste good right out of the pack. Think boiled peanuts with extra twang. HOWEVER, once you soak it and it airs out its much better. I was still struggling after that so I put some essential oils on the outside near the end not in my mouth. HELPED ALOOOOTT. I was thinking of clove oil bc I heard it's good for you. Haven't yet. I used thieves and put some on the chewing end. Burns the crap out of your mouth and lips so don't recommend that. Clove will prob do the same. But I digress. The whole reason I got this is 1...gum disease, whitening, easier tooth care access, and it claims to have a bunch of minerals. 2... I can brush in bed or in the car or watching TV. It keeps your hands busy while doing something healthy. Caution...do not go ham on the 1st day you get it and try to Scrub away years of neglect. You will do it too hard and make your gums hurt. Whitening....idk yet I've only had it a few days. For a fact....my teeth feel cleaner than regular brushing. AND they stay feeling cleaner longer. If I do it right before bed they still feel mostly clean in the morning. Smooth like after the dentist. Difficulty... getting to the backside of my teeth. Since it's not curved you have to do some weird angles. As I trim it and it gets shorter it will get easier I think. 2 comes in a box. I'm sending one for my sister. Plus I think I get more free bc I left a review. So the price is great.
