Patriot Pet 6-Inch Bully Sticks for Dog - 12 Pack

Bully Sticks by Patriot Pet Products should be more diligent in their advertising. I have two dogs, a Standard poodle and a Mini-mini poodle. They both love to chew and the mini-mini is very young so he needs to chew. We have always purchased chewies at our local farm store, but lately their sticks have an unpleasant odor so we decided to check Amazon's vast resources to find chewies that are not so odiferous. We thought we had succeeded when we saw the advertisement of Bully Sticks by Patriot Pet Products, and the reviews of them by other consumers. When I saw the picture by PPP showing the size of the stick in proportion to the hand, I thought that these chews were expensive but worth it if they didn't smell like a cow patty. and we immediately ordered a package of them, confident that we had done our research well.Imagine our surprise when the package arrived and inside were sticks that measured smaller than my little finger! I left them in the package and when my husband got home from work, he looked at them and asked me why I had ordered them instead of the Bully Sticks we had agreed on. Needless to say, he was not amused when I informed him that the pencil like objects held in his hand were the Bully Sticks! We are in the process of returning them. We didn't even bother to open the sealed package to see if the chewies were odor free or if the other positive things said regarding this product are true because we could not get past our perception of what appeared to be, outrageously deceptive advertising of the size of the chewies.When we purchase chewies at our local farm store, the sticks are at least 16 inches long and approximately, at a minimum, the diameter of the size of a large man's thumb, possibly larger. So, with the smack of false advertising, we felt that no matter how good the reviews of other buyers, we could not trust this company, or their claims. In the future, we will purchase our chewies where we clearly understand what our dollar is or is not buyingPlease understand, we are not claiming outright fraud, just our perception and response to it. Subsequently, I would never buy anything from this company again and would not recommend them or their products to others. And given the actual size of the chews we received, we believe that they were far over priced.It gives me no pleasure to write such a review and please keep in mind this complaint is not about Amazon at all. It is regarding Patriot Pet Products, (specifically their advertising department) who very likely make fine products but need be more diligent in their advertising and how it reflects on their entire company~

For now I'm rating the bully sticks at a 4 because they meet all the initial standards. The only thing I can't comment on so far is the longevity as my dogs have only had these a day. We have been a long time buyer of bully sticks and are always buying different brands. I prefer to have range free bully sticks because of morality issues and my dogs seem to enjoy them more. First I have to comment on the size! My dogs are fairly small at 4 and 9 pounds so these are HUGE compared to what they're used to. Should last them a good while! Of course they smell but IN MY OPINION if you get a bully stick that doesn't have some sort of odor I'd be more concerned with the chemicals they're using to get rid of the smell. Of course they stink, it's an animals body part, but the dogs love them and that's what's important. I don't allow mine to eat on carpet or furniture because of the smell so it's not an issue for us. I really like this company so far, they sent me an initial email with a nice letter addressing any issues I might have and followed up after. I love to support small businesses and will buy again! So far so good!

These 6" Patriot Bully Sticks truly are odor-free / low-odor. I have ordered several other brands that are not low odor and I gag every time I take one out of the bag. So from now on it's only Patriot for me. To get bully sticks low-odor, the manufacturer has to fully drain the "stick" of all fluids before stretching it and dehydrating it. Yep...that means they should totally drain the urine, semen, and blood. Especially the urine. Manufacturers who short cut this step will produce super stinky sticks. If a product doesn't say "low odor" or "odor-free" it means they didn't drain the sticks and they will have a stench that will make your eyes water. Regarding size....I have 2 little Maltese dogs. One is 4 lbs and these sticks are a little big for her but she manages. My other Maltese is 8 lbs and this stick is the perfect size for him - both length and circumference. If you have a dog who is larger than 15 lbs I would suggest getting a bigger stick. If you have a really large dog, such as over 40 lbs or so, I think a different type of treat, such as antlers or pigs' ears, would be better. For smaller dogs I would highly recommend these bully sticks!!

I've purchased several different brands of bully sticks and I'll rate these as my second favorite. They are pretty good, but I am pretty picky when I'm spending this much money on a dog treat. I have an aggressive chewer (Chesapeake Bay Retriever who is still in the puppy stages) and I no longer bother with toys and whatnot because she destroys them in less than a day. We give her nothing but bully sticks for chewing. And these are good, seem to be quality ingredients, no intestinal issues or anything like that, but she was able to tear threw them pretty quickly compared to my favorite brand. Now, these certainly do last longer than the cheap-o brands. Compared to what you get at the pet stores, these are top-notch by far. So if you are looking to purchase these, go for it. They are a nice treat. If I ever see a sale or if my other favorite brand is not available, I'll be back for more.

Product arrived on time, but three of the twelve sticks were tips (ie, thin like twigs). Maybe the odds are low of getting a package like that, but it's the one I got. It only means 9 of the sticks are for "I'm leaving the house and don't chew the wood" and 3 of the sticks are "Here's a little treat". As to the product itself, they are good at keeping the puppy from chewing things she's not supposed to and last long enough to keep her occupied for a while. I know some other folks give their dog a stick for 15 minutes and then take it back to assert dominance; we don't do that though. We often find she takes them to bury in the sandbox or somewhere else in the yard when they become stubs.
