So if i added a fiio q5s to my iphone would that give me a better sound. would i need to still download  an app like onkyo hf. thanks

Yes, it will give you a better sound regardless of bitrate. However To get up to hi res quality you will need an app that records the music in that state. Hence Qobuz, Tidal,etc. I have no experience with Onkyo as they don’t allow downloads in my country, but you can still organise your personal cd collection on it - if I remember correctly ! I’m reading of problems with getting the iPhone to recognise the Fiio, but it seems to work once you get around Apple’s fiddly systems,and you can get the information on google. At this stage Bluetooth doesn’t have the same quality as a wired connection, but is a useful bonus. As a side issue, I’ve used a similar device with an iPhone and found that it was just too big and heavy for carrying around. Still, your music will sound great.

Hi guys. i am thinking of buying a pair of the fiio fh7s and an ikko zerda itmo3 dac to use with my iphone 11 pro max. would this be overkill

Definitely not overkill. A good DAC will be an upgrade to the iPhone DAC, however the iPhone does have a decent on-board DAC so you may not find a very big upgrade with the one you have selected.

Other options to consider could include the Fiio BTR5 and Fiio UTWS1 if you were interested in going part wireless.

Do these have a warranty?

A 2 year warranty, I believe. There is also a scratch-off panel on the outside of the sealed box to validate authenticity on the Fiio website. These are beautiful IEMs and the build quality is simply unbelievable - they are built like a tank, yet incredibly comfortable. I couldn't recommend these enough.

Question 4

Has anyone tried a different cable with these? Not sure how true it is but i read that silver cables sound brighter. As is they're too bright for me.

Hi there, I have tried silver and silver plated copper cables in both balanced and single ended formats. TBH I can't hear a difference in the material but switching to a balanced cable significantly changes the detail that I hear from these IEMs. Additionally changing the filters and experimenting with different tips will have a greater impact on your sound in my opinion.
