PORTER-CABLE Air Compressor, 6-Gallon, Pancake, Oil-Free (C2002)

I bought this to replace a Cheap made in china model that I bought about 6 years ago. I dont use my compressor for any type of industrial work, so they have a fairly easy life. When my cheapo went the the great toolstore in the sky, I decided to get a different type, and of better quality.My last one was a "tank" type, with two wheels and a third foot. It was nice to roll it around, but the handle was so low that it hurt my back dragging it around. This one, despite having to carry the full weight (30 lbs) is easier to move around. The handle is well designed and sturdy.As for performance..wow. I started it and it took maybe 2 mins to get to full pressure. it shut off with the tank pressure indicator showing about 145 PSI. Is the switch off a little? Is the gauge off a little? Who cares, its 5 PSI which I will never need anyway. It has two quick disconnects so you could supply air to two different tools at once. I have pneumatic tools to drill, grind, saw, and polish. It would be nice to be able to just pick up a tool and not switch it out with one hose. In fairness, splitters are available to accomplish the same thing, but this comes with it. One less thing to worry about.It is fairly loud but hearing protection would not be necessary unless you were in a confined space and very close to the compressor. The compressor turns off at just under 150, and will cycle back on at about 120. Despite its smaller capacity (6 gal, vs. 10) it seems to provide more air volume than my old compressor. I did all five tires on my car, then hers and it still showed 80 PSI on the tank gauge.In closing, worth the money. The compressor has a quality feel and great performance.

Very nice compressor that has worked well for me. I would not hesitate to buy another one if I needed another compressor for some reason.

This is a well-built small compressor. The pressure gauges seem to be accurate, and it seems to be well-assembled. So, it's good, except...There are two problems with it. First, it is loud Loud LOUD! If you're in an enclosed space, and have to be within 10' of the unit, you probably should be wearing ear protection. Aside from potential hearing damage, I'd be concerned that if the compressor suddenly started while I was doing something nearby, I'd be startled and either botch what I was working on or even hurt myself. These days I plug it into a (turned off) switched outlet, back off fifteen feet, turn it on, and then get the heck out of there until it's full.Second, the drain valve is cheesy; you open it, and air will start coming out, but there's some sort of gasket that can block the air path so you'll have to fiddle with it to keep the air coming out. I ended up buying a replacement valve from a local hardware super-store; they're standard size, and just thread in.

This portable air compressor is a lifesaver! It’s compact, easy to store, and surprisingly powerful for its size. It quickly inflates tires and other items, making it perfect for both home and on-the-go use. Highly recommend!

Awsome pays for itself

This is not a quiet compressor, but I’ll take it over a quieter one that is not as well-built/sturdy. It has the oomph to fill up fast, & holds the pressure so that I can air up two vehicles’ tires without the compressor motor kicking back on. I can unplug it & carry it around to each tire, & finish a lot quicker than with my old one. I am very happy with this purchase & highly recommend this particular model from this manufacturer!

This is a great compressor for painting! Very reliable! We bought 2 craftsman 6 gal. Both went bad in under a week! Went back to PC! They very rarely fail. Our 1st PC Air compressor lasted over 25 yrs and just needed 2 new hoses installed, still working but it was out getting the hoses, so we needed another. Now we have 2 PC's...The new one has excellent quality and cost us the same as it did 25 yrs ago! Amazon took great care of the returns! These are the original pancake compressors!8/25/24UPDATE: We have sprayed over 3 gallons of 2K clear coat over the past 3 months with heavy compressor use. Running in high Temps with no compressor failures or back pinging of the piston. True to form this compressor can take the load! Just be sure to empty the water out after every use and use good water separators when spraying any solvent based materials. This is your best bang for your bucks!
