These units are far superior to anything available just a few years ago, Yes it is packed with advanced features and may be a little intimidating for the less technical among us, but that is what makes it great. I am tired of 'dumbed down' technology. I want the best there is and this fits the bill.Plays mp3g (karaoke) without any special handling and pretty much any video codec there is. Numeric access via remote is essential when you have have thousands of songs and hundreds (or thousands) of movies. This not only provides numeric access but prints a book for you with the numbers. How awesome is that?You guys remember customer service? Yeah, the kind where you talk to a real live human being and they fix your problem? That is CeeNee. I ordered a second one of these and for whatever reason the remote control was missing. Within 30 minutes of my email I got a call informing me they sent a new remote FEDEX OVERNIGHT so I could use it the following day for an event. Wow! When was the last time you got customer service like that? Outstanding.I'm not sure why the other reviewers left low ratings, but these guys deserve a solid 5 for both the product and the outstanding customer service.

I bought this product for my parents in the hope of copying their CD+G and VCD Karaoke files to the CeeNee hard drive, thus eliminating the need to swap CDs every time they wanted a new song. However, these formats are not supported; my fault since I didn't look at the documentation more closely. I'll take the blame for that, but it's easy to make that mistake based on the product description ("Supports VOB, MP3-XML, and MP3-CD+G Karaoke").Beyond the format compatibility, the UI on the player is very clunky; I found myself scrolling endlessly trying to find options and selections.I tried to return the product, but the company doesn't accept returns after 7 days, and NEVER accepts open items. I realize that this is not indicative of the product's quality, but it should be noted in case you're thinking about purchasing.

I mainly bought this machine for its karaoke feature. This ceenee device not only plays multiple types of video, but it makes for a great karaoke machine. I have a collection of karaoke videos that I use. I can easily create playlists and booklets in excel format. You can enter the song number and it plays or it can be added to the queue, just like in a real karaoke bar. The ceenee also makes for a great external hard drive.
