Excellent for learning Japanese
This is truly a wonderful book for learning Japanese. I had used Duolingo for about 5 months and while somewhat successful, I did not know how to make proper sentences. Each word in this vocabulary book has a sentence to show how the word is used. I have found the example sentences extremely useful, learning a lot by studying the sentence structure. Because both the Kanji and Furigana characters are included, I have also started to recognize many more Kanji characters than I had in the past.

Great For Studying
This is PERFECT for going over vocabulary for the exam. There are some slight mistranslations, but they're hardly consequential.

You need all 4 books
Total of $50+ to order everything you need to know for the JLPT N5 exam... I should've done more research before purchasing. Order a workbook instead of any of these books as writing will help with memory more than just this. I will be using a notebook to record everything from the books. I will try to update after I take the exam.

Grammar/Kanji errors
Overall a decent book but I can't help but complain about the grammar errors. There are some words that are different than the listed definition. I found enough Kanji mistakes to write this review. It's unfortunate because not everyone who is a "beginner," will pick up on these mistakes.

just a list of vocabulary
To be honest I thought it would be a vocabulary workbook, not just a list of words heh the size is okay, can easily put it in my purse and take it with me but I wouldn't buy it again

Very comprehensive. But for us old people some print is quite small. But still seems worth it.

Just what I needed
This book has allowed me to improve my Japanese reading comprehension and vocabulary at the same time. This book is really good for anyone wanting to prepare for the N5 or brush up on your vocabulary before preparing to study for the N4 to make sure there are no gaps in your vocabulary. You need to be able to read hiragana and katakana to use this book and furigana is included in case you have forgotten any of the kanji readings. The link for the MP3s did not work but I contacted the authors and they were very kind and immediately sent a link from their new server which is why I am still giving this book 5 stars. The book is about A5 in size but is perfect for my work bag or handbag and I can still study on the go! The text/ font is a comfortable size. I definitely and highly recommend this book.
