Can this wok be used on an electric stove? (Not glass-top)?

Because of its round bottom, this wok requires a special ring that keeps it at an even height above the burner. I don't believe that an electric range would accommodate the ring properly. Besides, an electric range does not put off enough BTU's to cook properly in a wok.

What is the difference between first and second generation? Handle only?
