It's a cool toy. The color changing works wonderfully! Make sure you use ice cubes in the cold water and make sure the hot water is actually hot. The cars will change instantly, and what's also cool is that they will lock to whichever color you leave them at once dry. Which also means you can do half and half colors on the cars.

Changes colors fine for us if you follow the instructions and use ICE water. and HOT tap water. My 8 year old got it for Christmas. While he enjoys it. He would have liked it a whole lot more when he was 3-7. Can get water all over so not so good in the house for us. However my son played with this so much during the summer, while outside at the pool. He would put pool water in and since the sun was hot and water was cool it worked perfectly. It was small enough to pack in the bag with a few cars, and kept him and friends entertained for hours. They also used additional straight track to make a "slide" for the cars and sisters shopkins which worked well in the baby pool, but in the big pool unless your child can dive and pick up the cars from the bottom of the pool they do sink, (as do some shopkins.) Mine can swim and dive so this just added to the fun.

It is disappointing to know the colours did not change!When u pour hot water it should turn a different colour and when poured cold water another colour ,unfortunately the cars are not changing colour after the first time !?the kid is so upset with this

This is the best Hot Wheels Water set it comes with a spray gun water shooter that my son plays with the lake it say paint gun sprayer people mention that the car's quit changing colors they do after a few hours of play what you need to do is driving very well with a cloth and leave them at room temperature for a couple hours remember this is a chemical reaction of some sort no science is perfect if they stop changing color dry them and it's just time for the kids to play something else until tomorrow or 5 to 6 hours and then they will work again just like they did the first time

This is pretty much junk. The only thing that is good about it is that the cars change colors but they don't stay on the track the containers to dip the cars are too small water gets everywhere so I have resorted to just letting my kids play with The cars in the bathtub and through the rest of it away
