the set I bought 6 years ago was much better made than the last set I received
This is my 4th set of these brush pens. They are real brushes and the watercolor dye inside them is fairly bright and vibrant. However, the set I bought 6 years ago was much better made than the last set I received. The newest ones feel soft and cheap and the ink flow is terrible. You can squeeze these until your hand goes numb and your still only going to get a medium wet stroke. The only real upside to them anymore is that you can refill them with your own inks. I put Dr. Martins watercolor dyes in mine and they work OK. You can completely disassemble these things down to the smallest piece to clean or refill them. If you want them for quick sketching or just for coloring book type stuff they should be fine. But if your thinking these will do pro work your better off with something else. One more thing: The "violet" marker in this set is hands down the WORST version of violet in ALL of markerdom! It's really a muddy brown with a slight hint of purple. It's a bit like someone is using a purple dye in another dimension and this marker is trying to channel it.

I bought a second set
I love using these so much that this is the second set I bought - they are so handy and the colors are very vibrant. I think I can figure out a way to refill them (I hope), but even if I cannot, I have found myself doing so much more watercolor playing, especially in my art journal, simply because these are incredibly convenient. The brush tip is great, they do not leak - though I do "get them going" on a separate sheet of paper before using in my journal.

Make your own.
I agree with other reviewers who say the colors are a bit muddy. I was particularly disappointed with the purple. I liked these back when they were the only brush pens I knew about. Now I say get a set of water brushes and put a decent ink in them. (Paint will clog them of course. Use bottled fountain pen ink, which you can get in great colors from several companies. I like Noodler's.)

Undecided.
Not yet sure about these. They are very good for writing (as opposed to regular water colors and brushes. The colors run out when given a little squeeze... sometimes. And they do not blend as well as most other water colors I've used (my favorite is still peerless-- check that out). I'll update after using a few months.

Handy
These are very handy. Haven't used enough to know the longevity of the paint. It does take a little bit of squeezing to prime the brush so do this aside from the artwork. Cleanup is a breeze. Make sure you save the white collar after you remove it for priming so it stores better upwright.

Also for one of the colors the paint never came out and I "pumped" it for like 30 min
Ok - the ink is not as fluid as I would want. I get a weird dry paint look. Also for one of the colors the paint never came out and I "pumped" it for like 30 min. I was disappointed in the quality and performance.

Don't waste your money!!!
Do you waste your money. You can squeeze and squeeze and squeeze and still not get the paint into the brush part. This is on all the pens in the package I received. It is disappointing to say the least.

Good for brush lettering
These brushes come to quite a nice point, although a couple of them have almost a whispy tip with one or two longer bristles. I just might have to cut them off if I can't learn to control them. Otherwise the colours are brilliant and intense.. The dry fairly quickly for watercolours. I'm very happy using them for brush lettering. They feel much nicer than a felt tip brush marker and make a more interesting line.

Blending brush empty!
All the pens were great except the blending brush came empty. It took about 20 min to prime all the brushes.
