How tall are these? real otc at 21" from heel to top or mid calf at 14" from heel to top? they look short.

They are over the calf so, I would say 21". I am very satisfied with them.

I want multiple colors in the over the calf metro dress socks

Not sure if the Metro is available in colors other than Black, Navy and Brown (that's all I ever wear). They might be. Other "models" of Gold Toe certainly are, including in patterns.

what is the difference between one size and the large size?

The Gold Toe Men's Metropolitan Over-The-Calf Dress Socks website at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002TORVW?ref_=pe_527950_33920250_dpLink&th=1&psc=1, says one size means, "fits shoe sizes: 6-12.5." If true, these socks must have incredible stretch.

How many pairs of socks are in the package that costs $10.80

There are three pairs. Brown, and navy socks. Black are more expensive.
