I would not put this product on your lips. I recommend using a product made for lip hydration. Products are tested for safety for their intention of use by the consumer.

Q: Does this smell similar to the Vaseline version?

I never smelled the Vaseline version but I know I was rather disappointed with the smell so maybe it does!
