One of the best shovels I've used!
Beautiful handle, forged blade is an excellent choice, balance is good. and it came while I was digging in the front yard. Needless to say, I switched shovels!

Handle disappointing
The shovel head is heavy weight and exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, the handle is not straight.

Holds up
It's been a year or so and I've moved a lot of dirt/rocks. The handle needs to be sanded/sealed, but that is expected maintenance. Head is in great shape

This shovel is in adequate, I would never by it again because of the design.
It is completely wrong in the design. Unbalanced and wrong tilt. Do not buy this flat shovel. I wish I could take it back. I will never be able to use it.

Great shovel
On the left in most of the pictures. It is certainly robust and forged steel. I may be confused on what a solid shank shovel is defined as, but was hoping the back of the shank would be closed without the seem. Mud and other things find their way into the shank and ruin the wood. It has easily twice the capacity of other shovels for material. The offset is just right for me. The shovel is certainly lifetime. Whenever the handle finally breaks i will just weld in a steel one.
