Adventure Time: Marceline & The Scream Queens

Great stuff!
Kaboom! did an amazing job compiling the entire 'Marceline and the Scream Queens' comic mini-series. You can tell they put a lot of love and attention into everything - they made the book "feel" very rock, as if you had bought a biography about a favorite band of yours with behind-the-scene pictures and copies of their posters, etc. It's hard to explain without seeing it for yourself, but it's great. The good news is all of the "side stories" made by other artists in the original comics made it into the book too. I heard that the compiled 'Adventure Time' comics did not have all the "side stories" did not make it in, so I was a bit worried. The book is also jammed with "clean" covers and art from the original separate issues. They are so bright and colorful that some may be tempted to tear them out and hang them on their walls. The story itself is very entertaining (and actually pretty emotional towards the end) and very true to the overall feel of the 'Adventure Time' cartoon. Marceline is about to go on tour with her band, but before she does, Princess Bubblegum sets up their concert in the Candy Kingdom. Princess Bubblegum dismisses Marceline's music as a bunch of noise, but when Finn and Jake convince her to go see the band in action, she feels the open road calling. PB signs on as the manager of the tour and off they go. While on tour though, Marceline gets more and more paranoid and depressed about her music. Will her real and imaginary critics turn her into a rock-and-roll monster? At the core it's a story about PB and Marceline's strained friendship (they obviously have a past together, what happened between them is still a mystery) and Marceline's deep insecurity. That's where the story works best.Meredith Gran's writing and illustrating is top-notch, but what really stands out is the amazing coloring job by Lisa Moore. Holding this book or any 'Marceline and the Scream Queens' issue is pure eye-candy. The colors are bright and perfectly matches the moods of the scenes.Overall I highly recommend this for 'Adventure Time' fans, especially fans of Marceline or PB. Finn and Jake make a few appearances, but are left alone to hilariously "run" the kingdom while PB is gone.Warning: I've heard a few people had problems with how their book was cut. Some of the pages on their book were not separated and were stuck together at the bottom. I had no problem with my book, but keep an eye out for that.

Very punk rock
So great to see some focus on Bubblegum and Marceline! The main story was a lot of fun and the side stories are adorable. Some of them are major eye candy too. I also have an unreasonable amount of love for watching Marce and PB change hair styles and outfits over and over, haha. I wish there had been more LSP though, everything with her was golden. My only complaint is that not all the covers in the cover gallery are at full size. Some of them look like they are really detailed and lovely, but at quarter size you cannot really make everything out.

An Adventure Time graphic novel for anyone who loves Marceline or Princess Bubblegum
I love Adventure Time! I purchased this graphic novel around the same time that I got the Fionna and Cake graphic novel (see my review here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1608863387?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00), but for some reason I didn't write a review for this one at that time. Hmmm...Anyways, PB is one of my favorite characters in the series, and I love the back-and-forth that she and Marcie have when they're around each other. This story is illustrated in the the same 'Adventure Time' style, and focuses on PB going on the road with Marceline and her band. It's definitely more of a light read than anything (or as light as 'Adventure Time' can be....). It showcases two characters who don't get a lot of screen time in the series, and expands on a side quest, so to speak--not something deeply meaningful but a good read, nonetheless.

Meredith Gran has a great handle on these characters
Meredith Gran has a great handle on these characters, and the story of rock n roll and friendship rolls out adorably with cute art and clever pop-culture references. It kind of twists the world of Ooo a little beyond the established parameters, so if you want to drive yourself crazy over whether or not we can consider this canon, it'll happen. That's really the only problem. It's light, written for kids, hip and breezy and it's nice to see Marceline and PB in the spotlight.

I liked the in betweens (featuring other artists) more than the actual main plot which was okay. Between Gone Adrift and this, the quest for a good Bubbeline comic unfortunately continues

Wundervoll
Klare Kaufempfehlung

Perfect in every way.
Studies have shown this comic to be absolutely algebraic. Positively alpha-numeric. Totally math. It's science.
