Great start to a exciting series
I have really enjoyed this series. I have read many of the books in the Lawmen of Silver Creek Ranch series, but never read the first book until now. All the books are stand alones . I thought it would be nice to go back and read the first book that started this great series of books. The book did not disappoint.Eve made a good Heroine. She was not afraid to go after what she wanted. She also kept calm when faced with danger. Gage made a good Hero. He was there to protect Eve. Gage had to raise his brothers. He didn't want a wife or child. Eve, and Gage were childhood sweethearts, but he had to let her go. When she came back years later, he had to keep her safe. Can he let her go a second time after the danger is over? This book had a lot of good action, and suspense to it. This was a great way to start off an exciting series.

Love it!
His life would be complete with them. He wouldn’t just have brothers. Wouldn’t just be part of the Rylands. He would have his own family. “So you’re happy?” she asked. Grayson wanted no room for doubt. “I’m the happiest man on earth.” And he pulled her into his arms so he could hold her and kiss her. He could have sworn he felt everything in the universe go into some kind of perfect cosmic alignment. Or maybe that was just his heart. Either way, this was right. No, it was better than that. It was perfect. And Grayson wanted to hold on to Eve and his baby like this forever.

Grayson
This is the first in the series, however I didn't read it first. I had to go back to the beginning, and boy, I'm glad I did. The pace is perfect, and I didn't want this one to end. There's something to be said about brooding cowboys.

Best Until the Next!
Delores Fossen is an author whose works I keep to reward myself--I know if I start one, I won't stop 'til I finish, so I never start her books if I'm cooking or distracted by things like work. And each of Fossen's works amazes me more than the last.Yet knowing all that, Grayson, the first of her "Lawmen of Silver Creek Ranch" caught me off guard anyway. When Eve Warren returns from Sheriff Grayson Ryland's painful past, she doesn't go to accuse him, remind him of all they once had together--she goes to ask him to get her pregnant. Immediately. And while Grayson struggles to understand that life-changing request, all hell breaks lose. Unnamed assailants try to kill Eve, completely unconcerned that they are attacking her while she's inches away from the local law.Suspects bubble to the surface, and Eve's job as a news photographer appears to hold clues to why someone wants her dead--but who? From the seediest of guns-for-hire to some of the richest and sleaziest residents of San Antonio, the motives for murder and the danger surrounding Grayson and Eve keep readers turning pages and digging their nails into their palms. Along with gasping a lot, which is due only partly to the danger--the explosive sexual attraction between Grayson and Eve is probably also to blame for readers' breathlessness.Grayson provides the perfect first book in her series, reuniting Eve with the Ryland brothers, who were practically family during her adolescence, and introducing the other lawmen of Silver Creek Ranch--while still being Grayson and Eve's story of triumph and love.Savor this book...it will likely only be your favorite until the next in her series!

Far-fetched premise, strong characters, major plot holes, no romance
Rated: 1.5 stars. _ Contains explicit graphic sexual contentNote: Semi-independent read. 1st book in the Lawmen of Silver Creek Ranch series.SKIP IT! Enticing story idea, fast-paced storyline, and strong characters. HOWEVER, the plot is poorly constructed, the writing is stilted and repetitive, the ridiculous ending is annoying, the dismissive attitude towards marriage, fatherhood, and adoption is offensive, despite hot sex, there's NO romance, and the image of the hero and heroine having ROUGH SEX at a crime scene, in view of the body of the man the hero has just killed, is just plain disturbing.THE STORY revolves around successful photojournalist Eve Warren, who left Sheriff Grayson Ryland 16 years earlier because he didn't want a wife or family. As the story opens, two things happen: 1) At a charity rodeo, Eve snaps a random crowd shot of a soon-to-be murdered woman, and 2) Eve, faced with impending infertility and ONLY wanting a biological child, tracks down Grayson with the news she has 24-hrs to get pregnant.Unfortunately, she is followed by a killer and what follows are multiple attempts on Eve's life, car chases, and shootouts, interspersed with interrogations of the nasty prime suspects. IN THE FINAL confrontation, the socialite killer steals a van, kidnaps a woman, wounds several security guards and law officers in a shootout, and ends up in hand-to-hand combat with Eve. In addition to being totally unbelievable, it is a SHOCK when the villain's identity is revealed.OVERALL, ridiculous storyline and an even more ridiculous villain. Eve's crowd photo has NO evidentiary value, and yet the multiple murder attempts continue even after the photo is given to the police. The LAWMAN OF SILVER CREEK RANCH includes: Grayson, Dade, Nate, Gage, Kade, Mason, Josh, and Sawyer. For books with complex characters and good storytelling try N. Bruhns, A. Stuart, or E. Palfrey. For better mystery/detective writers try J. D. Robb, D. Stabenow, Julie Miller, Gayle Wilson, or B.J Daniels.

Mounting Tension and Fulfilling Relationship
Interesting premise, and the author doesn't let up on the tension! I wouldn't have thought it possible to keep increasing the danger as Fossen does without going overboard, but she carries it off well. The relationship was believable and satisfying.

Cute but predictable
Cute story but very predictable plot. It is very easy, light-hearted reading and for the most part I enjoyed the book. I probably won't buy anymore of the series (I already bought book 2). However, if this was on kindle unlimited i would probably read the whole series.
