Shure PGA98H Condenser Microphone - with Cardioid Pick-up Pattern,Condenser Gooseneck Instrument Microphone with 15' XLR-XLR Cable (PGA98H-XLR)

Purchased this for a Trombone mic for a live Vegas theatre show. Works great. We bought one several years earlier for the Trumpet, and it's still working great. Good mic for a decent price.

I play tenor saxophone in a cover band about once a month. I didn't expect this mic to make a major difference, but it did. I was personally tired of being restricted to a normal mic, and I wanted to be able to move around more without having to adjust a mic stand everytime. I also know next to nothing about sound equipment, but I know Shure's reputation and I thought it was a fair price. It sounds amazing for the price and it definitely beats my previous setup. I was originally debating between the wired one and the wireless, but because of the price difference, I went with the wired. Though I am restricted to the wire, I still am able to move about while also having enough length to suit my needs. If there any other sax players out there that know nothing about sound equipment, this the wired condenser mic does require phantom power. This would be an additional cost (less than $20 for a cheap phantom power source) unless your mixer has it built in. I can see myself using this mic for a long time. I highly recommend this for any sax play that wants better sound quality with an option of mobility on stage.

Works great! I was using a mic on a stand for my alto sax, but it was difficult to keep the sax close enough while playing. This clip-on follows my sax, and I can easily move it to my tenor as well.

For the longest time I was using the Audio-Technica Pro70. But it was too "Dainty" the connections kept coming lose and I had to send the darn thing back 3 times after it started making noise. So I said to heck with it and gave this a try. I found the sweet spots on my guitar. and I figured out where to clip it. Then I too a piece of cloth and tacked it to the side of the guitar with carpet tacks. So far I've done 5 shows with this mic, 3 on my dobro, and 2 with my 12-string. And the recordings came out great, if you want to hear for yourself go to youtube and check out Sal AveNU in The Secaucus Station and Penn Station. Yes I've used it at gigs in train stations. There's more bottom end than the Pro 70 and you can get more oomph into a live mix with it. The recorder I use (Zoom H6) provides the phantom power.

I bought this for my bodhran and pandeiro and without fail it falls off every gig. Maybe the clip works better for a saxophonist, but I'm probably gonna need to gaf tape it on my percussionist instruments to make it work! Great mic though!

Great quality microphone. I bought two of these that I run through a mic cable splitter into my loop station. Easy to unclip and clip on to a different instrument while playing a set. Very nice.

Buyer beware. This is "Shure" not to last very long. I bought it last year to mic my tenor banjo for gigs and it was good for one night only. Yep, one performance and then kaput! I plugged it in again for the next show and there was no signal. Luckily there was a house mic I could use or I'd have been up a creek. I was always careful with it, knowing that it was not something that could be tossed around. One look at it out of the box and you can tell right away the hairline cable is obviously just too fragile to last (especially as it's connected to a 1lb XLR jack - seriously, who designed this thing!). and as I feared it ...just ...died. I would not trust this as a working mic. Should of just gotten a tried and true SM57. Lesson learned... and money lost.

We used this with cello, violin and horns with good success. Easy to mix with the rest of the band. The XLR connector is heavy which makes you wonder how long the cable with gets pull out. So far so good (5 use).

Nice and warm sound with dark midrange ..some fat frequencies at @ 90 to 300 Hz...highly essential for Alto sax...great highes and soothing base..love the product... One thing I did not like is heavy preamp that hangs to your trousers as it has got XLR connection...

Clips well to bell of instrument with no concerns it would dent or scratch it. Sound recorded is good.
