Ettore 48450 Bulb Changer Kit with Pole

We bought this to replace a burned out floodlight in the high ceiling over the stairs and found it easy to assemble and use to remove the old lightbulb quickly and easily. When we went to put in a new bulb, we had the same problem a lot of other reviewers have had - the suction cup stuck to the bulb. I mean, really stuck. HOWEVER, when we went back and read the full instructions we saw that we should have tied the provided long string to the suction cup before trying. We took the bulb back out, attached the string to the cup, and gave it another go, this time using the string and VOILA! - popped right off! Note to self to actually read the user guide next time! When used the way the instructions say to, this product works flawlessly and is sturdy enough we should be able to store it and use it for years to come, which makes it a fantastic value!

This is a nice piece of equipment that does the job. I was going to give it 4 stars as it is not so good with the helical bulbs, but I don't think it was designed for such so I changed it to 5 stars as it does what it is designed to do almost flawlessly.I had a helical bulb in the socket and I was able to get it out, but it wouldn't grip the bulb as the regular gripper was a bit too small and the floodlight gripper was too large. The bulb came out and hit the floor. Well, I didn't need that bulb anymore anyway. I was putting in a Lifx 800 white. I had to use the suction cup and it worked great. Only small problem is that there was no string in the hole of the suction cup and the device didn't come with any (and I had none in the house). The light screwed in flawlessly and with a bit of effort (and a small iron pole) I was able to detach the suction cup.I'd definitely recommend this for anything but helix bulbs. But I would recommend Etore including a length of twine for the suction cup.

This tool is terrific - has worked exactly as desired, on three different types of bulbs. HOWEVER, it definitely requires gentle and careful handing to make sure the pole is fully locked, the attachment fully screwed on, and the thumbscrew that holds the attachment on has been turned enough to engage with the pole, without stripping the threads that the thumbscrew screws into. This is definitely a RTFM tool - the suction cup attachment worked perfectly for me, at difficult angles, and I suspect that those who report trouble with the cup not detaching didn't follow the directions to connect the thread supplied that allows you to pull on the "ear" of the suction cup to release its hold on the bulb. If it has been put together and used correctly there's no way the cup won't release.But only 4 stars instead of 5 because of the care with which it must be used, and the use of low-grade plastic, which makes it likely that the threads holding the thumbscrew may eventually get stripped. A metal fitting would have been better.

I only used the suction cup attachment so this review is only for that piece. I have a 17 foot ceiling in my family room with 6 recessed lights and 2 eye ball fixtures. One of the smaller BR-30 lamps burned out so I decided to replace all 6 recessed lights with larger BR-40 ones and save the good BR-30 lamps for the eyeball fixtures. The pole was around 11 feet fully extended and it was just long enough to reach the fixtures with my outstretched arms. The suction cup was a bit stiff but what worked well was to heat it with a hair dryer or with an electric heater just enough to make it soft. Then wipe the cup with a damp rag and its ready to use. Try to center the suction cup on the bulb to want to remove and twist it out. The set screw need some improvement but I was able to make it work fine. When replacing the bulbs, make sure you attach the string for the suction cup removal. Worked like a charm and was able to change 6 bulbs in 10 minutes. If you have ceilings over 10 feet, invest in this product. Best $18 that I have spent in a long while!

I am not stunned by this product. It works well once you figure out how to use it, but it has issues. Mostly with how it's constructed.The pole itself is extendable but because you twist it to tighten it in place it becomes loose when unscrewing stubborn bulbs. Additionally, each of the attachments has a little screw to firmly secure it in place, but because it is simply putting pressure on the pole it doesn't do the greatest job. I used most every piece of the set and really the only ones that work flawlessly are the spring ones. The suction cup for flood lights causes a problem because if you secure the bulb firmly in the center to install the bulb it is extremely difficult to get the suction cup off the bulb without detaching it from the pole itself. The two attachments to get bulb bases out of sockets (if the bulb breaks off) don't work at all. There's no traction for the attachment to grab onto the screw base and you end up just turning the pole with no progress. I ended up having to get a pair of pliers and twisting it out by hand.

The product gets 5 stars from me because it got the job done & I like the price. I was able to change these 2 bathroom lights that are at least 20ft high using the suction cup attachment! Thank goodness for the reviews because the instructions aren’t the best. The string had frayed ends that wouldn’t fit thru the holes on the suction cup or attachment but I used my hair straightener & got rid of the frayed ends & had to tie it in 3 knots.. which wasn’t as easy as just tying knots but it’s string so I think if you have ever tried to tie a knot with this type of string you know it’s not as easy as it should be. It took me a second to figure out how to extend the pole but it just took a few twists to figure that out.

Used to change multiple flood bulbs 2 stories up. The suction cup was used. Had to jiggle the bulbs a bit to loosen them otherwise the suction cup comes loose.

Could not get any part of this kit to work at all. It’s hopeless, useless. Don’t buy.

Ich wohne in einem Altbau und wollte eine schnelle und einfache Lösung für das Glühbirnen-Problem haben. Die Verpackung hat mir schon mal den ersten Schreck eingejagd. Es war eine art Tüte um die Stange gewickelt und ca. 10 meter Klebeband von unten bis oben drum gewickelt. Hat entsprechend lange gedauert die Stange auszupacken. Als es dann so weit war habe ich bemerkt, dass die Fassungen der Stange anscheinend mit den Glühbirnen kompatibel zu sein scheint. Es ist möglich, dass ich mich dumm angestellt habe, jedoch denke ich trotzdem nicht, dass sich der Aufwand lohnt. Lieber borge ich mir bei meinen Vermietern nebenan eine Leiter.
