Herschel Settlement Backpack, Dark Olive Palm, Classic 23.0L

Here's the thing. I love Herschel backpacks, and I've had several throughout my high school and college years. However, the "Herschel" backpack I received from Amazon was less than satisfactory. The zippers are not of quality, the leather strap on the zipper actually fell off within 2 days of usage. I know about Herschel counterfeits because I've seen many of them on sale around my area; and the characteristics of them are:1) weird zippers, you can tell it's bad quality-- does not zip properly and smoothly. the zippers also have a very bad stamping of the logo, looked really different at the one i went to see at a retail store.2) i don't know how to describe it, but the backpack is awkward. the straps on the padding is awkward, and it rises a bit from my shoulders, giving it that teenage mutant turtle ninjas kinda look.3) the HERSCHEL TAG ON THE BACKPACK IS PEELING. (??) like what?i'm only keeping this backpack because i am in dire need for one ASAP, but if not, I would be skeptical about buying Herschel backpacks from Amazon. I even went to my closest Urban Outfitters to compare the quality between the one I received and the ones at retail, and alas, confirmed my suspicions.TLDR; i think this backpack is fake and i would love for Amazon to prove that it's not. everything is just so different from the backpacks I compared this with at retail stores. I should've just bought this backpack when it was on sale at Nordstroms.

Great looking backpack, but the zipper did not even last a year.[Edited] Turns out the zipper is covered under the Herschel's limited lifetime warranty and they are sending me a replacement backpack. Their customer service was excellent.

Same Zipper issue! Bag looks nice, cool inside lining but quality is at the level I would expect a 15$ china knock off to be. This isnt my first Herschel issue either. I have the duffel bag with its plastic clips that sound like a creaking rocking chair when you're walking with the bag. I sent a message to Herschel who took 10 days to get back to me. I got tired of waiting and had to pay 15$ to get the 60$ 4 month old bag fixed! Save your money!

Great overall backpack. This backpack is really for those that are just looking for a simple backpack. The material feels really sturdy and it seems to hold it's shape really well when carrying heavy stuff like text books and laptop. The front pocket has just enough space for small things like your phone, calculator, etc. My only complaint is that on the front pocket it doesn't have a pocket to hold like pens or small things that you would normally get with like a Jansport backpack.Oh and it's also nice that there's a laptop pocket on the inside so you know that your laptop won't get scratched when in it.

Product started out great- lots of room, seemed pretty sturdy for a backpack. Was stylish and fit nicely on my back. I walk/bus to work and carry all my things with me in a backpack, so I needed one with room and that would withstand/was sturdy.Within three weeks, however, BOTH zippers broke and were unfixable. They broke within minutes of each other! I am so frustrated-- the whole reason I needed a new backpack was because my old one's zipper broke... after FOUR YEARS OF USE. NOT THREE WEEKS!! This is ridiculous-- Herschel is supposed to be a reputable company making nice, sturdy products... yet your zippers suck. Returning promptly.

This is it. The perfect bag. I love bags. However, I am a very petite woman--about 4'11. It's very hard to find backpacks that fit me without hanging down near my bottom. (That make me lean over and hunch my back) but that also have comfortable straps, and looks good. This bag is it! And it's spacious: I can carry my laptop, a water bottle, a lunch, and a client folder. It's like magic. Seriously, I can't stress how happy I am with this bag. The one thing I wish is that it came in the grey or cream colors it used to come in.

Love this backpack! So sturdy and the pattern inside is so so cute. The front pocket is really handy and I like that the laptop pocket in the backpack is really easy to slide your laptop into. I also find this backpack incredibly comfy, I used it on a few hikes as a day pack recently and it didn’t bother me at all! The big zippers are a nice look too. Hopefully it lasts a long time, I’ve only had it for about a month. So far so good!

Love the look of this backpack but the zippers—both of them—have broken is multiple spots. When the zippers were initially working they were difficult to use requiring two hands and were not smooth. Eventually the zipper teeth started to break and move out of place. Now, they get stuck every time I try to open and close the bag.. Avoid this bag.

THis is well made and feels substantial the inside is like the TARDIS it never seems full. If the teenage granddaughter (who seems to carry around either nothing when asked or enough to make an SAS recruit cry for self) cannot fill it and is actually happy it must be good. The longevity will be interesting as teenagers seem able to shred kevlar vests whilst shouting I did nuttin

I got this to replace a much bulkier backpack. I wondered to begin with how I would get on without so much space and padding, but I've quickly grown to love this backpack and I much prefer using it day-to-day to my other one.It is very lightweight and compact, but it can still hold quite a decent amount of stuff, without the bag becoming overly heavy or uncomfortable to carry. I usually carry notebooks, a Kindle, iPad and bottle of water and there's still plenty of room, and a decent amount of protection for the breakable items.The front zipped pocket is really useful, and fits several essential items without them rattling around. It is really easy to get to what I need from this front pocket.The shoulder straps are comfortable and padded, and best of all is the quite stiff handle at the top of the bag. This is ideal for opening the main bag with one hand whilst holding it in the other with the handle. It sounds like an obvious feature to a bag like this, but my previous backpack instantly lost it's shape when I tried opening the main compartment in this way. The Herschel bag feels much more usable.It looks smart, feels like a good quality bag, and is well designed. I'd definitely recommend it.

The bag is great! I've known about Herschel for a while and I've previously owned slightly bigger bags however, I brought this bag for uni and pretty much just need it for my 13" MBP, laptop charger, a pencil case and the odd notebook or papers.I didn't know if this was the bag for me as I really needed to make sure it could fit my macbook; searching online for reviews didn't exactly help as I personally couldn't find anyone that specifically said it can fit 13" laptops properly.Anyways, I decided to check it out and well it is perfectly fine. Generally all the Herschel products that I've ever owned have always been of great quality and every item and bag I've owned may have signs of wear and use however, none have any rips or tears etc... If you're interested in buying the bag, have no hesitation as its perfect.

Bought for and used by my daughter for school. It has lasted a lot better than the previous backpacks despite being filled with books and folders. This is the first one she's had which has lasted more than 12 months which means that it must be good. Pocket is convenient for pens etc and the main part is of sensible size for A4 folders.

The sizing of these bags are so confusing. I ordered the 46 in (whatever that means) in black. All it means is that it is the Settlement version, that comes with a 15" laptop sleeve. My laptop (Lenovo y50) is actually 15.6" but still fits in fine, even with a case. The padding of the shoulder straps are sooo comfy, making it a perfect bag to carry your laptop and other essentials for work/uni etc.
