GE Freezer was icing and replaced heater element to fix icing
The heater element was removed after deicing the freezer and 11 we remove the Old heater element it was noticed that the Old eater heater Was discolored And showed evidence of Damage. We replaced with The New heater element provided by Amazon After Approximately 5 Days of running the GE model GSH25jxsnss Refrigerator it has been working well and shows no signs of freezing on the back Wall of the freezer, see attached photo!

Fantastic customer service! But the part does not last.
This heater is essentially a "moving" part (it heats and cools by a wide range), and will go bad at some point. This replacement does not seem to have the longevity of the OEM heater given it's somewhat different materials (mine died in 9 months vs 7 years for the OEM). Consider a pricier real OEM part given that the heater operates in pretty hostile conditions, and will do about 0.5-3 defrost cycles per 24 hours. But do not fear - the customer service for this particular offering is excellent. Don't hesitate to contact them in case you want a refund for this one so that you can buy the genuine one. I got a prompt refund upon request. A pro tip here - if you are replacing the heater, just defrost the heater bracket itself, and install the new heater. Then turn on the fridge, enter the diagnostics mode by pushing the 4 temperature adjustment buttons at once (getting to the blinking 00 00 on the temperature panel), and toggle "1 4" mode to turn on the heater. The heater will light up. Wait for it to work and defrost the rest of the coil. To turn the heater off when done, toggle "1 4" mode again. Please see the attached images on how this works in practice. You also get an extra bonus, you get to see your new heater in action! To find the full instructions on the web with all the other diagnostics codes, google for this phrase "Each time any button on the temperature board other than four temperature adjust buttons is pressed, the status of the FZ defrost heater will toggle" P.S. I ended up getting a genuine GE part (make sure you order it through a reputable seller, and QC it properly to make sure it is indeed genuine!!!). It has copper connectors to the heating element, and also a few things (G7102; Pat. No. 6140623) printed on the electric terminal. See my last 2 pictures for details. I wish I ordered the genuine part right away, that would have saved me a few manual defrosts with a drying fan.

Seemed to work fine at first, but after a month we noticed that it was getting WAY TOO HOT!!!
This defrost heater seemed to work fine at first, but after about a month we noticed that it was noticeably heating up our freezer! We noticed that our ice in the ice maker had been partially melted and refrozen into a solid mass and wouldn't dispense through the door receptacle. There was also some drips that had refrozen beneath our ice maker on the side and back walls. When we noticed this our freezer that was set for 0 degrees Fahrenheit was currently at 9 degrees... It was in the process of returning back to it's proper temperature. Later that evening we checked it again and noticed a weird overheated smell in the freezer (either from heated plastic or possibly from melted water) and pulled out the bottom bin to notice that there was a bright red glow coming from the defrost heater behind the back wall. We immediately unplugged the refrigerator, let the heater cool a bit, removed it and replugged the refrigerator without it until we could get the OEM part ordered and installed instead of this obviously flawed generic part. When we removed the heater, it had browned the edges of the positive and negative connector wires for it. Yikes! I'm so glad we happened to keep most of our food out of this freezer until we decided it was fully repaired. If we had refilled it, we probably wouldn't have noticed for quite a while and then it could have damaged our refrigerator and burned itself out, causing more problems than we started with. Within a few days we received the replacement defrost heater and installed it and so far haven't had any ice melting or burning smells with the OEM part from another online retailer. We still haven't added much food to our freezer to continue monitoring it until we are sure it has been fixed and we can trust it once again.

It fixed the problem
I installed the defroster element first to see if I needed to replace the sensors. It looks like the sensors are still good and the defroster element solved the problem. The job took about 45 minutes since I wanted to defrost the coils first.

Fixed my problem
Seems like this part goes every two years or so. Hopefully the new design will last a bit longer. Still cheaper than a new fridge.
