Simple, easy, and effective
Such a simple contraption and very effective! I needed a way to keep my toddler out of our closets that have sliding mirrors, mostly to prevent her from smashing her fingers, and these were a great solution.Pros:- Easy to install. All I needed to do was place it on the mirrored door where I wanted it to stick and then press it on.- Sturdy. Ive had these on for a few months and they haven't budged at all, even when I accidentally try to open the door while it's locked.- Looks good. Appearance wise, it's not an eye sore and is easy to place just above eye level so you don't see it.- Easy to use. Opens and locks easily with one hand.Cons:- No issues so far! Maybe if you jerked the door open really hard, it might break it, but I would say that it'll stand up to toddler strength easily.

Works well even when put on backwards! ;)
I have ordered two sets of these--one in August 2015 and another in February 2016 because I loved the first two sets so much. I have two kids ages 4 and 1.5 who love getting into things. Not in a bad way but my 1.5 year old loves to "help" by bringing me things. I also live in a smaller rambler so I can't always keep them out of rooms or places. Especially when my nanny and her two kids are over. So I needed some good solutions to closet storage. My 4 year old never got into things when she was a baby but oh man, my 1.5 year old sure does. These Sure Basics Sliding Door Locks are more powerful than you would think. I start by washing the spot where you want to put them and then letting that spot thoroughly dry. I held each one in place for around 30 seconds to a minute to get a good bond and then waited a day or so to actually use them. So, true "mommy brain" happened and I put my first two on backwards. Luckily they work just as well backwards as they do forwards. I really like how they are really small and after a while, I don't really notice them. They are easy to click into place and take off. So far, in the however many months I've had them they work just as well as day 1 and haven't broken or failed me yet!*Please note that although I review products at discounts often, I purchased this product for FULL PRICE. And not even just once, twice! I just wanted to write a review to recommend this to others.

Finally cat-proofed my closet
I love my cats, but can’t stand them getting into my closet! I tried velcroing the doors shut (only mildly effective), putting something in the sliding track to stop them (rarely worked), putting scary stuff in my closet (mostly resulting in scaring myself). I was so frustrated and randomly searched for something that would stop the closet door from opening. Found these, and for the price had to give it a try for my sanity. Now I never have to worry about coming home and seeing my closet partway open and clothes all over the floor! No more fur on clothes! No more cats getting cozy on expensive shoes! Super easy to install and, more importantly, it actually works! Whoever came up with these, thank you for giving me peace of mind.

Wonderful purchase to keep pets out of pantry and closets!
This thing is a life savor!!! I have some of the most frustrating pets. My cats like to slide my closet door open to sleep on my clothes..always my black wardrobe and my dogs likes to slide the pantry door open to help himself to everything..usually carbs..dog after my own heart! This is a wonderful product! It’s very discreet and can be hidden toward the bottom of the door. We were originally going to have a piece of wood cut, similar to what you’d put in windows to keep people from breaking in, but I’m glad I looked for alternative solutions on amazon because instead of the wood just keeping one side from opening this thing prevents my pets from opening both sides! I did put a big note on my doors temporarily reminding myself and my kids it’s on there to prevent us from just trying to yank the doors open too quickly because it’s not like they’re metal or screwed into the door, but they do seem pretty sturdy.

Perfect for bypass closets!
This works great on our closet bypass doors. It was easy to place, sticks well and pops up easily and then pops down easily when you want to open the doors. I took off one star because the part that slides up and down comes out of the track sometimes and it's kind of a nuisance to get back in the track...I think eventually the little guides are going to break if I have to pop it into place too many times. Just put it high enough that it's out of the kiddo's reach, because I imagine they could figure it out easily enough. Also, it won't work if there aren't guides at the bottom of your bypass doors. We recently replaced our doors and I hadn't yet added the guide back at the bottom of them. I put this lock on and my toddler just pushed the doors backward to get past the lock. I realized what was happening and put the guide back on and now it's great.I will say that even though it's not recommended for this use, I did try it on our sliding glass door. I was desperate because my little guy keeps letting himself outside, which is terrifying. I won't take off a star for this, because they flat out tell you not to use it for that purpose but I would definitely follow their recommendation NOT to use it on a sliding glass door. It stuck really well to the glass so I can see how it would work well for keeping windows from opening all the way, but I needed the door to slide past the lock so that we could still get out as needed. And it did, actually. I tested it to see if there was enough clearance before I stuck it on and there seemed to be. But once I stuck it on the glass, the sliding door did bump the stationary door when it was opened. It actually wasn't bad though, and we could definitely open the door. And the kiddo definitely could not open the door, so in that regard it did work. But then the sliding part of the lock popped off the track (like I mentioned above) while the door was open and I panicked because it prevented me from closing the slider at all. I did manage to get the door shut and removed the lock altogether so it won't happen again, but I'm bummed that I will probably have to look into a lock which requires drilling into the slider frame or costs a ton. But anyways, learn from my mistake and listen to the advice that this lock isn't meant for sliding glass doors!
