Great to keep birds from pooping on our deck

I give it a 4 stars not because of the item The item is good sturdy and it’s suppose to scare away the squirrels and it does not The squirrels are eating through the garden

So a week or so ago I was here reading reviews to determine if this would help keep the birds away from our patio furniture. Not that we mind birds but they were landing on our chairs and covering them with poop daily. We'd clean it up and they would back the next day making another mess. So I figured for such a low price, why not give this a try. Much to our delight, we wake up to clean patio chairs daily and not a bird in sight! Not sure how far of a range this deterrent is supposed to cover but honestly I just wanted my table and chairs free from bird waste. We placed it right in the center of our outdoor dining table and it's has worked like a charm. It makes a nice centerpiece too! I think the key is that it has a spring loaded head that turns 360 degrees on it's own thanks to a clear plastic fin on the back of it's head that catches the breeze. The motion definitely adds to the realism. It is very light and hollow with a stopper on the bottom so you can fill it with rocks, sand, etc. We used rocks to weight it down. Hopefully this review helps others who are in the same situation I was not too long ago looking for a similar solution. Of course everyone's environment is different so I can't speak for your yard situation but we are in north Texas with a back yard that faces west and our patio has a free standing wooden patio cover if that helps. The price was just under $20 when we purchased so I'd definitely recommend giving it a try.

Looks cool but head doesn't rotate in a slight breeze. Has to be a strong wind. Crows and squirrels are still eating our pears.

This works like a charm! Our back sidewalk was covered with bird droppings daily, this has completely ran the birds off... Well worth the small price!

Last year we added a deck addition to our new home with patio furniture and a grill. What we didn't anticipate amongst our excitement for the new addition were that a new deck would attract a hang out place for the birds. With the birds came massive bird poop on the deck and the rails. I had a hard time going outside to even enjoy my deck as every time I did, I had to wash, spray, and scrub the bird poop off. After getting 1 of these owls, we managed to detract the birds from one half of the deck. However, they ended up going over to the other half where there was no guard owl. Having bought a second owl for the other half, the deck has remained bird poop free for weeks now! I am more than excited to be able to finally utilize my deck more often without worrying about having to scrub off bird poop constantly. This product has been a game changer and I would definitely recommend to my neighbors and friends!!

Not very effective

This item seems to do what I wanted it to do. I have a mailbox alarm and I had a small bird tripping it by landing in front of it on my mailbox. This was happening several time both mid-morning and late afternoon. The constant ding-dong from the alarm was very anoying. This owl mounted close to the mailbox stopped the bird from perching on it and tripping the alarm. The only complaint I have is the color. The owl picture on Amazon has brown back feathers and the one I received is some kind of cross between purple and pink! Not sure if it was a bad run during manufacturing or what. Only 4 stars since the item received doesn't look like the picture on Amazon.

Seems to be working. Have it mounted on the corner of deck roof. Less birds about which means less poop on my deck furniture and surrounding area. Time will tell.

The heads are not rotating as advertised and I bought 3 for our project. Disappointing to say the least. I hope you will do the honourable thing
