Birds of France (Pocket Photo Guides)

Very nice, small guide to the birds you'll see.
This is a very good pocket guide that covers most of the species that one might see. In my 11 days in France, I saw 35 species, all of which were covered. This guide is small, easily carried, and easy to use. Serious birders (you know who you are) might want to supplement this with a full guide to all the birds of Europe.

A great pocket guide
I use this book to supplement to a more detailed guide to European birds. What's great about this book is its size, the focus on France, and robust descriptions for each species listed. The photographs aren't always the most representative of the bird you're seeing (especially those with seasonal molts) but the fact that they're photographs can sometimes be an advantage over guides with drawn plates. The absolute best feature of this book is a glossary of the english names against french names—incredibly valuable to have if you plan to interact with locals.

Perfect tourist guide
Perfect pocket guide for tourists. One pic of representative bird and quick description, habitat and geographical locator. More views would be nice but then it’s a bigger book, so good compromise for a quick tour guide.

A Little Guide to Label those French Birds
Light little guide to help you id those French birds and then name them in English, and in French with the assistance of the interesting glossary at the end. Not big enough for much infos, ex: 'feeds in fields'.
