True French roast taste at a good value.
Reasonably priced, very good coffee. It is very dark, as described, but still clean and smooth. It tastes like a French roast should, which is what I wanted, not like an Italian. I wouldn't drink this black, but it's great with cream. Nice aroma when ground and brewed.

This French roast whole bean is fresh and the price is right. I love the aroma and smooth taste with a slight acidity.

Good but could be darker in flavor.
This was on-sale for a good price so the value was fair. The aroma of the beans were good and reasonably fresh, but not as smokey as expected. The flavor was reasonably dark, but slightly acidic and not as smooth as preferred. Another degree of darker roasting might have made it even better. The same value per ounce would make this worth purchasing again, but a higher price would make me look elsewhere. One star removed for slightly acidic taste.

Great, Dark, Deep, Bold, Rich FLAVOR--90% of the time the beans are beautifully oily!
My wife and I love this coffee. Hers with milk, mine straight up. Great, Dark, Deep, Bold, Rich FLAVOR--90% of the time the beans are beautifully oily! One of our favorite things, a few times each week, is cracking open this back and seeing, very dark (not light brown, not medium brown), oily rich beans... and smelling the heaven coming out of these coffee beans. It's rare, but once in a while, a bag if these beans will be dry, not oily. That's life. It's worth it for all the times they are oily and full flavored. Sometimes when we're out we'll try a new (expensive) brand of "French Roast," only to open the bag and discover DRY LIGHT brown beans. WHAT? FRENCH Roast beans should almost be black brown... and NEVER DRY.

The Best Coffee!
This was the first time buying this brand and it did not disappoint. It's the best tasting coffee. I will be buying it again.

Amazon and Allegro Coffee
Allegro is truly a great coffee. That being said, when I purchased Allegro directly from Whole Foods, the coffee was much fresher. Since I now obtain it through Amazon, the coffee is very close to the outdate and not at all fresh.
