Never buy another retractable nylon badge zip line thingy again!
Sick and tired of snapping the zipstring on your retractable work badge gizmos? Look no further. This thing is so strong, it got stuck in my rolly chair and when I got up and walked away, it pulled the chair behind me... Try that with a nylon cord.

Very sturdy device.
Much better than the last several of these I have owned. I kept buying the crappy ones at the hardware store and they kept breaking. This seems much more sturdy than those and I suspect it will last quite a while. The only quibble I have with it is I underestimated how long the strap and clip combined are and it hangs a bit lower than I wanted. This is easily fixed, however, and I am not deducting a star for it since it is my own fault. 5 Stars. UPDATE: Don't over extend it. I was playing around with it and (for some reason) decided to test how far it would go. After being pulled out all the way a couple times the spring inside seems to have come loose and now it does not coil up. I'm leaving the review at 5 out of 5 because it's really my own fault... Regular usage should have no problem.

Works great
This is my 2nd retractable key chain. The first one I had, had a nylon cord and lasted maybe two weeks. This one, on the other hand, has been amazing. Not only am I constantly pulling it out to open doors but I like to pull it out when I am bored and sometimes the kids I work with do the same. It hasnt come close to breaking once. My only complaint is that I wish it was a little smaller.

Not too shabby...
It's very strong, but it doesn't retract all the way when under a somewhat light load of keys. I was going to put all my shop keys and work keys on here; but, that's not going to happen since the thing is not as strong as the one's like my dad had (you know... the chrome old skool one's that you saw on the janitor's belt back in school). It's okay, but it's really too long (awful bouncing on the leg or near your crotch if you wear it on the first belt loop from your zipper), and not near as strong as those legacy chrome/metal ones. 3 stars is all I can really give this. I would like it more if they ditched the strap and strengthened the internal spring(s). It looks great, though.

Daily use!
I constantly use a swipe card and a key at work. I keep this on my belt loop so that I never forget where my keys are and always have them accessible.

I like it so far, very well made!
I love this. Very well made! No issues to report at all. I will say that this is a little bigger than the other ones you may have used so be prepared for that as it is a little bulky but it's very well made and I think it's going to last a long time. If you don't mind it being a little bulky, I say go for it, you won't be disappointed.

Better than bulky pocket keys.
Love these. Used every day in my job as I have to carry keys to various buildings and fence padlocks. The cable should not be pulled out beyond a certain point, or it may not go back in. It is very similar to a retractable dog leash in that regard. I usually need a replacement of these every 6 months or so, usually due to my doing something dumb like leaving a key in the lock and then going through the door, or dropping a heavy padlock on the ground with the key still in it (and the chain reel still attached to my waist. D'oh!

Weakest link.
This key ring broke after about a month. I bought it for it's discreet size which is only about 1.5 inches. I used it with an ID badge - no heavy keys. I need to scan my ID badge frequently throughout the day so I was attracted to the durability of the metal cable feature. The first problem was that the clip did not hold firmly to my belt alone. The whole key chain would snap up to the badge reader. It held better if I clipped it to my belt and pants, but the final failure was the nylon thread that holds the key ring to the metal cable. The durable 48" stainless steel cable is connected to a flimsy nylon thread. Any chain is only as strong as it's weakest link!

Size wise, not meant for the office. Definitely stronger than any office option out there. Unfortunately, not as strong as I hoped. Sudden movements would cause my keychain to spoil out and I would have to reel it in manually. In fact, I ripped the whole spool out as I got out of my truck suddenly causing my keychain to unspool and get caught as I closed the door.

Wish it stayed out, after pulling out

Its a great product untill it got trapped in a taxi door and the stainless steel cord was pulled from the housing when i stood up and seems no way to mend it. Could not even open the case as the x-screw got damaged by my x-screw driver.
