As the honored hero in the Anchorman movie saga Brick once said, "I love lamp", and no I am not just looking at things in the office and saying that I love them. This is a product of quality that is seldom found these days. It's of solid build, quality materials, built to last, and designed to repair as oppose throw the entire assembly away once something breaks. The light output is fantastic in brightness and width of throw. The outer ring is a FC8T9 circuline florescent bulb that snaps into three clips that hold it in place, and plugs into a four pin connector. The inner bulb is a 9w E26 LED bulb that can be swapped out if you prefer a different color temperature. The base probably weighs around 20lbs and once the lamp is in place, the entire assembly is rock solid - no movement beyond what is done by yourself. The switch for the inner LED bulb is at the base of the fixture, and the switch for the circuline bulb is at the top of the fixture. You must have the inner light before you are able to energize the circuline bulb. I tried to answer all the questions that I had before purchasing to help others with their decision, and if I think of more, I will add it later. I love this lamp so much that i just bought another one for my woodshop.
