Reincarnations-A Century of American Choral Music

I gave this CD to an accomplished organist and choir director in Houston, Texas, and she has passed it on to all her colleagues. She says it is a great CD and is very impressed with the choral selections. She has since purchased more CD's by Seraphic Fire.

If you want to hear what young male American choral composers are doing, this CD is for you. The first half of the century is represented by one hymn, one Shaker tune, Barber's Reincarnations, and Lauridsen's Mid-Winter Songs. What is most striking are the works of several younger composers, including my two favorite, Dan Forrest (Good Night, Dear Heart) and Dominick DiOrio (I Am). Now that I've fallen in love with these works, I'd like to hear them sung by larger choruses. Hearing Seraphic Fire is thrilling . . . but the sound of these 13 voices is quite different from the sound of a traditional chorus.

Bought as a gift and have not heard it yet, but am expecting greatness!

Modern choral at its best

As a season subscriber, I am one of the lucky ones who gets to hear this group perform live on a regular basis; but for those of you who cannot enjoy Seraphic Fire in person, this disc is your answer. The production quality on Reincarnations is brilliant, as well as the musical selections that have been carefully cobbled together by the artistic craftsman himself, Patrick Dupre Quigley. I cannot wait to share this beautiful CD with my friends and fellow choral music lovers. What a gift of pure joy!

Fascinating to listen to the transformation of the art form, from the late 19th century to the late 20th century. The beauty and clarity of sound Patrick Dupré Quigley evokes from the artists of Seraphic Fire is nothing short of magical. The cd production itself and the way this music is captured is impeccable. Ear candy!!
