Razor Sharp, Perfectly Balanced, Simply Incredible!
As always, Tamiya holds up to its name as one of the best manufacturers of Gunpla/Plamo tools around! The handle itself is perfectly balanced, handles like a dream, and is super easy to hold firmly and steadily with no slippage or difficulty gripping. As for the blades, the ones provided are OLFA hobby blades, which again, are some of the highest quality blades around. They come out of the box razor sharp and hold an edge for ages due to their higher carbon content. Cheaper blades such as Xacto just can't compare!Overall, I'd rate this knife 5/5 as the quality is incredible for the price. I'd definitely recommend picking one up if you're in the market for a new modeler's knife.

Great hobby knife, and well worth the price, except...
...except you don't have to.I absolutely agree with the other reviewers who have raved about the quality of this hobby knife. It's easily top tier as far as hobby knives go. And it would absolutely be worth what they're asking if it were not for the fact that you don't need to spend that much.I haven't seen anyone else mention it, but while the packaging for this knife is indeed packaged as a Tamiya product, and even the handle is painted with the Tamiya logo, if you look very carefully at the molded handle, you'll see that this is actually a rebranded OLFA Cushion Grip Art knife, which is available right here on Amazon at about half the price of the Tamiya. The only differences are (1) the packaging, (2) the white painted logo on the Tamiya knife, and (3) the Tamiya is black and the OLFA is the color of a #2 pencil. Otherwise, it's the exact same knife.Unless you want to pay double for black or the Tamiya name, go find the OLFA. Oh, and only one very minor criticism of the knife. The knife itself has a tiny bit more heft to it than most hobby knives, which is not a problem. The concern is that it is imbalanced, with the blade end being the heavier end. This means that if you drop your knife, without exception, it's going to land blade end down. If you're luck, that just means you'll break your blade. If you aren't so lucky, well let's just hope it misses your foot.

The best hobby knife I own
I own several hobby knives (Fiskars, Xacto, Husky, Tamiya). This is hands down the best hobby knife I own. The second best is a Husky one that I bought at Home Depot. Tamiya makes hood tools. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Won't pop your beans. Don't question why would you spend $20 on an Xacto knife
5 stars, large, sturdy, and Comfortable. Tamiya top quality is unequaled. Love that it's basically 3 tools in one with switchable blade/chisel styles. Also love the ingenious idea about putting a little wing at the top so this doesn't roll off the table. I have a habit of model making in my boxers at night. I had an incident this year where my beans were on top of my frank (if ya know what I mean) and had my old Xacto knife almost pop one of my beans when it rolled off the table. So from that point on I just used a couple Q-Tips and some electrical tape to do what the little wing does. I don't think people think of such mishaps until it happens. At least that was the case for me. Love this, buy this.

Great Knife for Plamo Builders!
I seriously can't recommend this modeling knife enough to anyone that builds plamo. The fact that it comes with a curved blade is a big deal, and the weighted base of the knife helps keep you balanced and alleviates extreme strain when you're trimming parts. I've had mine for a long while now and haven't snapped a blade (knock on wood) for the life of the knife. My old xacto blade would snap every so often and this is a big money-saver for me in that sense. It does take a little bit of getting used to if you're switching over from the typical xacto (since, again, this blade is weighted at the end) but once you've been using it for a while it becomes an extension of your hand. Plus, as I mentioned before, it comes with a variety of blades which are great for different types of builds.Highly HIGHLY recommended! Well worth the price point!

Best hobby knife you can buy.
This is the BEST hobby knife I've ever had the pleasure to use. It is worth the extra money, no question about it. The main thing about this hobby knife is the way it balances in your hand. It's weighted toward the handle and it just has a nice feel to it in your hand The rubber grip provides for a solid no-slip hold on the knife. There's also a little protruding ridge toward the end of the handle that prevents the knife from freely rolling off the table. A very nice safety feature indeed. This knife IS COMPATIBLE with standard X-Acto blades. I've got a pack of XActo blades that say "Use with 'A' handles" and they fit in this knife perfectly.

Excellent art knife
I've been using this knife for my engineering and maintenance work for a few years now and I just love it. I've bought several because mine just seems to "disappear" at work mysteriously!!!

Trust me, this is the one you want!
The absolute best knife/blade holder I've ever held or encountered, by such a long shot.I was going to say I've used hundreds of different kinds, but more realistically, there are dozens of different ones I've used extensively and none come close to this.A quality heavy-duty metal collet holds the blade. It is not made from a cheap soft alloy but is sturdy and robust without blade slippage. The knurled collar grips well and can tighten firmly without stripping any threads and doubles as a great point to handle. The rubber grip behind it is comfortable yet not squishy and the long fibreglass-reinforced plastic handle is a perfect balance between weight and strength. The collet does need a decent amount of torque to tighten it down firmly on the blade, but that might be due to the blades I'm using right now. Regardless of having to use a little force, I can't say enough good things about this knife. It's worth a hundred others, and the increased pleasure and quality of the work you do as a result can't be overstated!
