Joseph Joseph Totem Max 60 Litre Waste Separation and Recycling Kitchen Bin with Odour filter and removable food waste caddy, Graphite

This is a brilliant bin. It looks nice in the kitchen. It is 40litre (2x20litre) the 20 ltr bags (number 7) seem too tight so I have bought different bags and I’ll try a few more types before I settle. My bin area was a mess with a pedal bin, recycling and food. It now all fits in the new bin and it doesn’t attract flies or smell as there’s a charcoal filter included with the bin although I don’t know how much a replacement is. I bought done colour, the bins themselves inside are orange and look really nice. It is very uncomplicated. The food waste area clips in the corner of the top bin. I crush plastic bottles, we use a lot of 1 litre bottles so we crush them to reduce the space they take up. I haven’t fitted two bags at the bottom but you can split the recycling if you wish. I would recommend and buy again. I wasn’t clear when I bought that there is a 60 litre (40 plus 30) bin available too but I would have gone for the 40 litre anyhow. T does make me empty the bin every couple of days whereas my other bin was larger but honestly heavy to carry so that is another plus. Overall the bin makes refuse and recycling easily manageable. My only thing is the bags should he a fraction bigger and they should really supply you with a good supply of charcoal filters and bin bags. I think only got six bags in total and only one charcoal filters. It’s a bit of a pain to have to find bin bags that fit that are cheaper than the branded ones although I did an AI search and had some good responses so I’ll try those that AI recommended.

I bought this 3 years ago and got laughed at by friends for spending so much money on a bin but I knew I was onto a winner as it’s, well it’s a Joseph Joseph bin and my experience of Joseph Joseph products is that they are well designed, very well built and they last. Although this bin is on the small size I find it perfect because of its compact design and ultra small footprint, perfect for small kitchens. Love the stainless steel finish/colour which has remained stainless over the past 3 years and the lid isn’t showing signs of wear from being opened constantly. If you clean this bin and don’t treat it like a kick toy it will last you longer than the bin you have been replacing every year. Even after 3 years use it still looks great and although it’s just a bin, it looks really cool.

Excellent bin but very overpriced. I bought it because I have a small flat and it fitted the exact space I had perfectly. The quality of the bin is fantastic. I see people say the lid pops back open sometimes, this is because you have too much in your bin and it’s overflowing, take your rubbish out! This only happens when the bin is too full, like obviously too full. The bottom bin is very easy to take out, easily slides. The orange inside bits are also easy to get out, have little holes for your fingers to grip. Comes fully built so don’t need to do anything. Comes with some bags but the Joseph Joseph ones are very expensive so I buy the Sainsburys swing bin bags and they’re basically the perfect fit. I will say that I think the price is ridiculous and if it wasn’t the only bin that had 2 compartments and was the exact right size for where I wanted to put it, I would not have paid that. But I did and I really can’t fault the thing at all. Would recommend , especially if you can get it on sale.

Bought as moved to a new flat and needed a space saving recycling and main rubbish bin. Really good bin but a bit expensive. I have had for nearly a year. The two compartments are deceptively large holding 30L each, which is 3 or 4 days worth of rubbish for a 2 person household. It does come with a smaller food caddy bur we already had one so don't use it. There is an odour capturer compartment where you can put a material which prevents strong smells and this seems to work really well. It only needs to be replaced every few months and is relatively inexpensive c.£10. The stainless steel looks really smart but worth noting it does leave fingerprint marks but these are easily wipeable. The top is made of plastic but again really well designed. The bottom compartment wheels in and out really easily however can sometimes get caught. When you put a non-joesph joesph bin bag the latch can get caught preventing the bin from opening however with a bit of force it will open. Overall really good bin worth the money but quite expensive

Is it possible to love a bin? If so this wins a place in my heart! It a perfect size as it holds enough for it not to need emptying every day, plus it looks neat and tidy in my kitchen. I use one section for paper recycling and the other bit for plastic and glass etc, and although I didn’t think I’d use the food caddy, I find it perfect, and again keeps everything discreetly hidden. I have seen other reviews questioning the robustness of the lid mechanism, but so far it works well and I’ll update my review if i notice a problem. Yes, it’s expensive, but it’s an excellent design, so absolutely worth the money.

Fantastic bin. Liners are overpriced though. Buy the Black and Decker 30L drawstring bin liners for a third of the price (on Amazon). Perfect fit! Wish someone had told me sooner!! Would have saved a fortune.

Really happy with quality looks good

I love this bin! Yes it sounds very sad that I love a bin! But this bin is so good. Rubbish in the top section, food waste hooks on that section. And all your recycling goes in the bottom drawer..easy to clean. Filters work great, so no nasty smells. Hubby wasn't impressed when it arrived and I told him how much it was, but, he agreed that its totally worth the money! You have to pay for quality, and this is quality!

Love this trash/recycling can! It has a couple of very minor drawbacks, but it more than compensates in other areas. We have a small kitchen with multiple entrances, so space for a trash can is very limited. We previously used a (much loved) no-touch can for trash and collected our recycling in a Target bag hanging on a doorknob. This brought it all together in one attractive, non-stinky bundle. It opens and closes with as little as one knuckle and wipes clean easily - features much appreciated by me (head cook and bottle washer). There's even a little corner caddy for compost if you're into that kind of thing. We first used this model in an Airbnb, and we liked it so much I messaged the owner for the manufacturer's name when we got home. They were kind enough to send me a link (along with a ringing endorsement). Theirs has reportedly been in service for several years in their rental, and it's clearly held up well. Pros: Trash and recycling in one receptacle, sleek stainless steel look, easy removal of trash bag and recycling bin, easy to clean, fits standard 8gal trash bags (we use Hefty), easily open/close with one hand. Cons: It's square shape makes it a little bulky, reduced capacity for trash (vs standard 15gal trash can) I decided the reduced trash capacity was actually a pro in our case. I used to wrestle an overflowing 15-gallon trash bag (double bagged) down my basement stairs to the garage about once a week with dogs nipping at my heels. Now, I carry one 8-gallon Hefty bag out the door whenever it's full - No struggle, no mess, no cramming it down to fit just a tiny bit more. The same is true for the recycling. The whole bin comes out, and I just take it with me to dump in our garage receptacle. While the price tag was initially a bit of a gut check, we're very happy and wouldn't hesitate to purchase it again. All the stars.
