Small pieces, but good.
This was a gift for someone who LOVES collecting rocks. They seemed to really love the gift. Personally I thought that the rocks and other pieces were much too small, but I guess I should have suspected that giving the size of the box and claimed quantity. I loved that a magnifying glass came with it and the sheet with pictures to match everything in order to know what each thing/rock is. I believe it serves its purpose and is educational. I believe it contains a great variety. The person who was given this seemed to be really invested in every single little thing inside the box and most importantly they seemed to really be enjoying themselves as well.

amazing set!!
My brother LOVES rocks so this was the perfect gift. There are a variety of sizes of rocks. There are two bags of very small pebble like rocks so that can get a little messy. But other than that the colors of the rocks are very pretty.

Perfect gift!
Purchased as a Christmas gift for a “crystal” obsessed 6 year old and it was an absolute hit! Comes with 2 rock identification posters and a tiny plastic magnifying glass. Most of the 300 rocks are the tiniest of pebbles, however they are polished and pretty. My 6 year old loves combing thru them to see why she can find and the tiny size is what allows you to get so meany rock specimens. Various sizes of rocks arrived in separate bags. My favorite was the larger rough rocks. The tiny rocks have a potential for messiness but we avoid that by spreading them out on a cookie sheet to prevent spoilage on the floor. The geodes were tiny but fun to open, definitely needed the adult to open/ not posible for a younger kid. Overall definitely worth the price I paid for it.

Fun and educational, not so much to clean up!
We recently got the National Geographic rock collection for my nephews, and they absolutely loved it! 🪨✨ The variety of rocks and gemstones is so cool, and it’s a great hands-on way for kids to learn while having fun. They were so excited that they spread the entire collection all over the floor to sort and examine every single piece. It kept them entertained for hours! The only downside? It took forever to pick everything up afterward 😅 But honestly, seeing how engaged and curious they were made the cleanup totally worth it. You do get a geode with it to open yourself, use newspapers or maybe crack it outside, itll get chips and dust everywhere. If you’ve got little explorers who love rocks, this is definitely a fun and educational gift!

Great gift for little rock lovers
At first I felt silly ordering a bunch of rocks, but my son absolutely loved them. There were a lot of smaller colorful rocks mixed in with the big ones, but my son also enjoyed sorting them out and keeps the smaller ones separately. I paired it with a case for storing and a book for identification. It only comes with one paper for identifying rocks and I’m surprised my son hadn’t lost it yet but he loves to look at it.

Beautiful gems, solid, not very big and some are damaged
The National Geographic Rock Collection Box is a fantastic educational toy for young rock enthusiasts. This set includes a diverse collection of over 300 gemstones, crystals, and fossils, providing a hands-on learning experience. Pros: Educational Value: The set encourages children to explore the wonders of geology and learn about different types of rocks and minerals. High-Quality Specimens: The included specimens are genuine and well-preserved, offering a real-world connection to Earth's history. Engaging Activity: Cracking open geodes and discovering crystal formations is a fun and exciting activity for kids. Comprehensive Learning Guide: The accompanying guide provides detailed information about each specimen, making it easy for children to learn and identify different rocks and minerals. Cons: Some Specimens May Be Small: While the overall collection is impressive, some individual specimens may be quite small. Fragility: Some of the specimens, especially the crystals, can be fragile and may require careful handling. Overall, the National Geographic Rock Collection Box is a highly recommended gift for young geologists. It offers a valuable learning experience and hours of fun.

Fascinating for older kids
Certainly not suitable for toddlers due to looking appetising, these are great for older more mature children with an interest of gems and fossils. My daughter absolutely loves them, but would recommend buying a case for storage, as they get misplaced easily. Well worth the money.

Happy with my collection, wide variety
I had my eye on this kit to add to my own collection of crystals and gemstones so I got this on a deal on Prime day. I had read the reviews of others so I expected the rocks to be small. Overall I was happy with what I got and everything described was included. (The plastic box in the first picture is my own.) One of the geodes needed more force than expected to open but was worth it as it looks great (middle of the second picture). It seems the inside is quartz and there appears to be calcite on the outside. The second geode (not pictured) was smaller and heavier and may not be a geode at all as I cannot open it with a lot of force and left scratches in my hammer. I don’t mind though it will be interesting to figure out what it is. I don’t mind that the gemstones in one of the bags are small because there appears to be a large variety of them. I think the point is to research and test (like a scratch test) each one as there are many samples of gemstones not listed in the book and chart included in the kit. Examples I have identified are Howlite, Dalmatian Jasper and Rainbow Moonstone.

Love it
I bought it for me. Not a kid. I love rocks. Wish this was around when I was a kid. All the specimens are amazing and interesting to look at. The booklet and poster are great. The cracked geode was only as big as a marble. That made me laugh. But it's cute. The other two unbroken geodes are about the size of eggs. Love the fossils, shiny rocks, and raw pieces. I already have display ideas. Including using the chip pieces as a bed to display a couple of different personal items. Maybe in a glass jar. There is a plastic display case that came with this, too. I would love a follow-up set. Will keep my eyes peeled. I think this would be a great gift for a kid who shows interest in this sort of thing, as I did when I was a kid. I used to bring rocks home for my mother as gifts. That's the kind of kid who might really love this.

Encore une fois certains commentaires me paraissent étranges...

Kaufen wer Mineralien liebt!
