senz smart s Umbrella - Shiny Silver (1111020)

I bought this to use for hiking and backpacking. It's part of my rain system-- instead of cooking myself in rain pants and a rain shell, I deploy my umbrella (and if it's really storming, put on my Zpacks cuben rain kilt). I arrive at the top of the hill dry, cool, and happy, while my companions in their traditional gear arrive hot, sweaty, and less happy.Since I hike in Arizona, the umbrella serves as my portable shade when it's 1,000 degrees C outside. While the other lunatics on the trail are baking in the sunlight, I am relatively cool.This is my second Senz. The first one got damaged slightly (through misuse) and is no longer capable of handling the elements with aplomb. I retired that to my car where it protects me while walking to and from my work building from the parking lot, and keeps me cool during my hourly strolls around the property in the summer. This umbrella is lighter (303 grams with case), and reflects the sun better than the retired dark blue version.The umbrella is durable and great in the wind, as advertised. I have had it in 30 knot winds (gusting to 45) and it had no problem. It deploys easily and folds up quickly. The coverage is good, though your elbows will get wet if you aren't paying attention and the rain is descending vertically. The elongated rear of the umbrella serves to keep rain off my backpack, more or less.This is a perfect backpacking umbrella. You can get more traditional umbrellas for backpacking that weigh about the same, but they are a traditional mushroom shape and therefore suspect in high winds. This umbrella is larger, far more durable, and not heavy. And it laughs at wind. Just don't sit on it and it will serve you well.

flimsy metal, broke after dropping it one time. withstands the wind pretty good, but not going to be good if it gets dropped and banged around a little bit.

What a fantastic company and umbrella.They stand behind their fabulous umbrella.I purchased this umbrella in silver and did not use it for sometime . It did not work properly . I contacted Senz and within a day I had a new umbrella . I got a response immediately from Europe and they put me in touch with someone locally . What a great company .

I bought this umbrella on April 1, 2017 and on April 25th a 19mph wind made the umbrella turn upside down and the structure broke.The manufacture claims that this version supports winds of up to 37mph ( 60km/hr) but this is not the case.

Nice color and weight make this an attractive little umbrella. The shape is unique and it stands out in a crowd. It dries super quickly too. I haven't been able to test it in a high wind situation yet but I'm betting it will hold its own as advertised.

I owned a larger version of an original senz umbrella. This smaller model is poorly made. Very difficult to open. Does not protect from elements. Don't waste your money.

good design but built cheaply and doesn't perform as described. one of the umbrella arms broke the first time I used it and it wasn't even that windy.

Good for wind but bad for blocking rain. When it's windy, rain hits you in the face diagonally. The short front part of the umbrella doesn't help.

No he tenido oportunidad de probarlo con fuertes vientos; si bien en cuanto a estructura no he tenido ningún paraguas con esta solidez en el varillaje.

I bought the umbrella last year but only used it a couple of times. Yesterday I remembered about it again, got it out, and when I tried to open it, the plastic holding the opening mechanism just broke, shattered for no reason. This is a very lousy quality umbrella, would not recommend
