Hands down the best MYOG hot cut for synthetic fabrics I found
i MYOG outdoor gear and can't say enough good about this cutter, at least compared to everything else I've tried. Hot cutting is critical, especially for home production, to keep the synthetics from fraying. It can also just be a heck of a lot easier for certain cuts. I've used this cutter on about 40 yards of cuts so far, and it's been instantly better than the previous solutions I tried that were based on soldering irons. It heats up in seconds, and the analog temperature adjustments seems consistent, and precise enough to get relatively smoke-free cuts. I've used the bottom knife guide exclusively. This has allowed me to not have to cut on cardboard. If I just tip the unit up slightly, I can even cut directly on a plastic workbench. The only improvement I would make is some sort of "outfeed" separator, which would keep the two cut pieces apart behind the cut, like a table saw riving knife. Thin materials requires some finger contortions to keep them from bunching behind the knife near edges, and thicker materials can stay hot enough after the knife to bond back together slightly. Not even remotely a deal killer, as this is SO much better than everything else I've used, but noted for completeness.

It comes with a case so when you're not using the hot knife, it stays in it's case.
It cut fabric and sealed it from fraying. I usually turn the cut edge under and sew it there. Not any more when I cut with this hot knife.

excellent fabric cutter
This one really works. I got it because I bought a cheaper one that does not cut fabric well. This one slices through the thickest sunbrella type fabric like butter sealing the edges so they wonโt fray.

Works well
Temperature control is a bit unruly, but the knife works well.

I love, love, love this cutter. I donโt know why it took me so long to make the decision to get me one.

Could have been so much better
I've used hot knives a lot in the past. This design is good in that it has a heat control and is well built. HOWEVER: it falls short in significant ways. 1. A guide attachment of some kind was included, but there is NO reference to it in the "manual" and it's not evident how it's attached. 2. The unit does NOT fit into its case with the blade installed! Hello??!!! 3. The heat control knob is unmarked, so it's impossible to know or repeat heat settings. The LED blinks rapidly at one end, so I assume that indicates less pulses of current to the blade?? 4. The LED function is not mentioned in the "manual" which is a pretty useless piece of paper. This is such a good product to use, and if the manufacturer had put a tiny bit more effort into the final package it would be five stars.
