Model Rii (one with the red bumper buttons)
Review for the Rii model the one with the red bumper buttons which function as the left and right mouse clicks. Great little keyboard which I have tested on Windows 10 using Bluetooth and the dongle. The scroll wheel works really well and 4 notches of scrolling on the keyboard which is smooth and soft will give you the same results of one press of the page down button on your keyboard. While one notch down on the scroll wheel is the same thing as two presses down using the down arrow key on a standard keyboard. I prefer the scroll wheel for scrolling down over using the touchpad with 2 fingers although this method can also be used. The scroll wheel also functions as a middle click if you press it down. Using two fingers to scroll on any of the small touchpads I have found does not to work very well when scrolling down a long page of info (tends to stop and I have small fingers). This model does have a removable rechargeable BL-5B battery which is on the label; but in addition the BL-5B identification is actually engraved into the plastic below the battery which is a nice touch should you ever loose the original. A quick internet search shows it is a Nokia battery so you could in theory down the road buy a replacement. The only thing I wish it had was dedicated multi media buttons like pause, skip forward, backward although it does have volume buttons with mute and built in arrow keys which work like the arrow keys on a standard keyboard. The manual says it has multi media buttons but just having volume to me does not qualify as "multi media". I suppose there are no media buttons mainly because of the size of the keyboard (limited real-estate). It's too bad they couldn't have used the circle with the arrows to also double as the media keys (with a toggle on the keyboard). The thing I like the most about this keyboard is the scroll wheel which is much easier to use over using 2 fingers on the touch pad. Setting up using Bluetooth and Windows 10 was a breeze as well as using the dongle. The power indicator is green when using the dongle and blue when using Bluetooth. The product pictures do not show it but the dongle stores inside next to the battery. There is a cap locks indicator as well as a charging light and in order to charge you can use the included micro USB cable or one you have already. Overall I would recommend this if you want a small additional keyboard that makes it easier to scroll because of the included wheel.

This actually works well with bluetooth
Pretty descent, excellent battery life used with a Linux Mint streaming box. Have two, thought one was defective, turned out the target was having blue tooth driver issues. If you have issues with raspberry PI-5, even with SSD directly below antenna, it is probably you blue tooth drivers. Finding out the correct driver is obscure.

Best of the Rii devices yet
I've had two of these and a number of other Rii remotes over the last 10+ years. This one is the best. Good layout, backlighting, track pad, control options and usability. The 2.4 Ghz is not bad but if you have any devices on those bands nearby the interference can be rough. My main complaint is that I want to be able to default it into Bluetooth mode while keeping 2.4 plugged in as a backup. Instead of powering on in 2.4 and then having to toggle over to Bluetooth. This thing has been dropped a number of times by my daughter and is still going strong. Even the scroll wheel still works like the day I bought the first one years ago. I use these on my NUC style mini PC's set up as HTPC's. These are more expensive than some other models even from the same company but the functionality is much better. Battery life is solid as well. I get about 2 to 4 weeks of moderate usage out of it before needing to recharge.

Great as a remote/keyboard for HTPC/Entertainment Setups
This thing is pretty solidly built. I use it from my HTPC (Home Theater Personal Computer) system. I have other models from other brands and they are not as sturdy as this one is. The touchpad is sufficient for my needs. I wouldn't call it high-end but it gets the job done. The top corner trigger buttons work really nice and the touchpad has basic gesture recognition. The backlit isn't obnoxious and turns off after a while. The 2.4 GHz USB dongle was plug and play on my media center mini PC (Windows 11). No need to download any drivers or software. The product comes with a pretty comprehensive manual/documentation. From my experience, a lot of these products are made as cheaply as possible and don't usually come with documentation. This one does. I use this in combination with a handheld trackball by Elecom. While I do prefer to use the handheld trackball to control the mouse cursor, this remote the perfect sized companion keyboard to type with anytime I want to open up YouTube or Twitch. I was considering a Logitech keyboard with trackpad but it just seemed too big and clunky for my needs.

First Impressions matter
I’m gonna be honest I didn’t expect much for this amount of money but overall it works flawlessly. I will recommend it to anybody who is Tryna have a keyboard mouse combo for controlling a media PC I use it on my gaming PC of my living room and it should work. I bought the Logitech Kate 400 but didn’t mean my expectation due to crappy quality and tracking pad very inaccurate hopefully this will last me a long time.

Nifty, Versatile, and Compact - Impressed!
Handy little controller!! Boyfriend has been talking about wanting the Rii i8 for 5+ years, and when we went to finally get it, we ended up going with the Rii i4 Mini. I did not know what to expect (with either model), but I was down to try it, and it has been great! For a controller, keyboard, and trackpad all in one, it serves a great purpose and has a lot of versatility and functionality! Now, I was very surprised by the size, given that it has a keyboard, trackpad, and a bunch of other function buttons. It fits perfectly on my palm, and the length is pretty much the same size as my hand from wrist edge to fingertip. So, if you have larger hands, it will likely fit well in your hand. When using it, you will want to use both hands since it needs to face the same way as the keyboard. It is very thin and is flat, with no real bulges. It is also extremely lightweight. It is made with plastic materials but is structurally sound. It has a full-functioning keyboard and trackpad, as well as other buttons, most of which are labeled. The trackpad has good sensitivity and gestures. The little finger instructional icon pictures are actually on the trackpad, as shown in the photos (it is not a sticker or removable); I personally find this to be helpful since it helps you to learn them, and you can easily reference it instead of having to find the manual or Google it. It connects to devices by Bluetooth and/or a dongle and is fairly easy to connect. We have used it successfully with our laptop, iPad, and iPhone. One thing to note if using a MacBook - we had to change the trackpad settings on the laptop to make it go two-finger down for down, etc,... this then reversed the actual computer's trackpad. I appreciate the backlight as it makes it very easy to operate in the dark or at night, as well as find if it ends up mixed in the bed or couch ha... The backlight has auto on/off feature which is helpful and preserves battery. We use it mainly as our "tv remote" via laptop connected to the tv, and it is very convenient...sorry not sorry, we aren't going to get up every time we need to pause or rewind, search, etc. It is also wicked helpful for the iPad and iPhone, making typing a breeze just like on a laptop. It is rechargeable via USB-C, much preferred over regular batteries - and it holds a charge for a good while with lots of uses. I think there is a little bit of learning merely from what do all of these buttons do (obviously not your typical keyboard ones), but it is very easy to operate. If you are looking for a compact, multi-purpose remote/controller and mini full keyboard - this is a good one. Given its size and weight, it is very easy to transport. You can also find cases made for it (sold separately), which I highly recommend for longevity, especially if you do plan to travel/transport it... Again, it is plastic - a sturdy plastic, but you will want to take precautions... I can see issues if you throw it in the bottom of a bag and crush it... Also, the price is great for what you get out of it.

Great functionality with tons of features
I am very happy with this purchase. I run a mini PC to my fire TV to play videos and some games on my television. I needed something I could type with and originally purchased a full keyboard with a track pad via mini USB. That keyboard was a nightmare with lag and lacked functionality that made it hard to move the cursor. The Rii i4 on the other hand - wow. I can use the shoulder buttons to left or right click and they are in the perfect spot on this device. The track pad is insanely responsive, I worried about that with bluetooth connectivity but it is great. It has a scroll wheel which is great in function too. Can also click on the trackpad like you would most modern laptops. The on/off is simple and it will shut itself off after awhile to conserve battery which is also ideal. The buttons would not be ideal for anyone looking to type like a paper for school. But I can type emails, messages, search my library, search the web and it works great. It is about the size of a standard gaming controller which is a great fit for my hands. Also backlit which really, is just an added extra benefit at this point. I find it very easily controls the entire desktop and everything else I need it too. The price is on point too, I would have expected this to sell for much more. Very pleased

Good, but a few minor issues
I've been using this since 2001. I definitely don't regret my purchase, but I have had a few issues with it, and I don't think I would buy it again unless they offered a Mac/Apple layout out. I'll start with the good, it works really well overall, is compatible with anything that'll work with a standard keyboard and trackpad. Trackpad isn't garbage, though it could be a little more responsive.. It gets very decent battery life as well, I don't have to charge it that often. The scroll wheel is really nice too. Though I wish it had two finger scrolling, the scroll wheel is perfectly acceptable. The backlight is really nice as well. I have the backlight set to stay on all the time. The main issue I have with it is the kid repeat rate is pretty bad. Particularly if you're pressing the same key twice in a row. I always have to remember to wait a second between keypresses when I do the same key twice in a row, which isn't fun if you have a lot to write. Another issue is that the charge port broke after about a year. I don't necessarily blame the manufacture on this, it's micro USB, and I found that micro USB has a higher than average rate of breaking, since it's so small and fragile. I blame the specifications, more than I blame the maker of this device for that. However, since they use a standardize battery in this, I was able to find a charger and a higher capacity compatible battery. So, instead of charging through the micro USB port, I just swap batteries in an external charger. This actually works out better for me, overall, anyway. The original battery stopped holding a decent charge after about 2 years, so having a third-party battery and charger worked out in the end. The trackpads tap doesn't always work reliably, similar to the key repeat rate, so I use what looks like shoulder buttons to click most of the time. Oh, and it goes to sleep pretty quickly, so I am often flipping the power off and on to wake it up (it's faster than tapping the buttons and waiting for it to wake). I came back here to see if they made one with Mac/Apple layout, which I would've bought if they did. It's not a big deal having the Windows layout, but it would just be nicer to have the layout for the platform I'm using 90% of the time. Given some of the minor issues with it, I'm going to look for something else that has a Mac/Apple layout instead. Overall, I would say this is good as a backup keyboard, or even for use on some thing like a media center computer. I wouldn't want to use it as a main keyboard, or for heavy typing. I originally bought this for a Mac mini, that I used in the living room as a media center, and it was perfect for that. I later replaced the Mac mini with an Apple TV, so now I use it when I'm repairing and testing stuff for work.

Reliable Connection with Good Battery Life
Very happy with my purchase. My TV is connected to a computer (Mac) and it makes for an awesome remote. All the buttons work as expected; for example the home button doesn’t do anything, but the left and right triggers at the top work as left and right mouse buttons. Touch pad works well and it’s easy to control the mouse on a big screen. The Bluetooth setup was very quick and I’ve had no issues with it since. It goes to sleep pretty quickly but wakes up with a button press.
