Model is small.

In general I am satisfied with the kit. The laser cuttings enabled easy separation of the individual pieces from the wood. Wood materials are first rate. Instructions are large, easy to read, easy to follow, and complete. The laser cutting also makes assembly easy and accurate. However, for almost $50 I was very disappointed in the quality of the furnished metal fittings and some of the parts. The castings are, in my opinion, of inferior quality. The steering wheel has flash which must be removed. The rudder is poorly cast. Some parts must be altered (gearshift, drive shaft) to look authentic. The bow of the model must be fashioned from a single block of balsa which must be shaped without adequate instructions as to the shape. There is no frame or plastic for the windshield or cutout for the bowplate. Dumas generally makes excellent models but in this instance they could really improve the quality of the model by making better castings. All in all, 3/5 stars. Shipping by Amazon and the broker were average.

This item is going to be used as a Christmas present. The box was damaged upon receipt. I opened it and the productseems to be free from defects. I would like new outer packaging (BOX for the kit) for the model. Pat
