Great speakers
Didn't realize what I was getting myself into when ordering 'monitors' as opposed to speakers. At first I was ready to send these back since I couldn't just plug and play but ultimately I went down the rabbit hole when I thought, well, let's make this work. At first I bought a Focusrite Scarlett Solo from guitar center since I needed some human interaction to figure out the solution to my problem. When I heard the clear, flat sound coming from these speakers I was blown away. I also noticed that I could hear way more detail in my video edits and became alarmed as to what I missing before. Unfortunately though, as good and clear as music sounded there was something missing.. BASS. So after days of obsessively researching subwoofers but not knowing what was really best for me because I really didn't want to spend more on the sub than the speakers, I went back to my new friend at guitar center and he price matched me a yamaha hs8s. I lugged the thing home on the subway which probably looked ridiculous and a week later I have to say I'm just blown away by this set up. Its the best sound I've ever owned. It wasn't cheap but if you need any form of professional sound capability, these things are worth it.TLDR- If you get HS5's, get a usb interface and a HS8S subwoofer. You won't be disappointed.

Don't think twice if you are starting a home studio
I did try lesser cost monitors but that is exactly what I got. There's no comparison at all.
