What is the response time to stable accurate reading?

You put the meter in a pail of moist soil ( you decide what "moist" is ) and then you adjust the meter to a reading of "5". As you test the soil ... if the reading is below 5 then it is not as moist as you might like it. If the reading is above 5 then the moisture level might be higher than you would like. I like the meter because I live in AZ and the soil is very rocky, but I am still able to get the meter to go in the ground and get a measure. I really like the meter

This is quite pricey comapred to similar alternatives. Is there any warranty with this to guarantee long term reliability?

Sorry, I can't remember that now - I will have had mine 2 years next spring and haven't had any problems with it - I changed the battery last spring although it was working ok, as I think they said they last a year plus(?), but mine seems very reliable
