Law School in a Box: All the Prestige for a Fraction of the Price Cards – March 8, 2007

Each year during the holidays my husband's law firm has their annual holiday party and hosts a gift exchange. One of the requirements of the gift exchange oddly enough is that the item you bring must be under $10. This was perfect! I purchased it on sale and was able to bring two for the party. It was an instant hit with every attorney & spouse at the party.Some of the more hilarious aspects:- The "Diploma" that includes the details of the "prestigious boxed institution".- The "Compare and Save" list that shows the savings compared to Harvard, Duke and Yale.- The "Heroes of the Courtroom" trading cards that show not only a few facts, but make it funny.Just like most products put out by Mental Floss this one is hilarious and factual. It's obviously not a "true" training course, but even soon-to-be lawyers may appreciate a new way of looking at information that has no doubt become boring and overdone. I highly recommend this as a gift and know from personal experience that it would no doubt be a huge hit in a room full of attorneys!

Great! Funny and cute even non law people would enjoy

I bought this for my boyfriend for his birthday as he plans to (hopefully!) attend law school. He thought it was so thoughtful and he loved it! We went through and read some of the cards and he felt a nice challenge from them. I'd recommend.

When there's a tiny tin box that details all you'll need to know about law, complete with flash cards.In all seriousness, this is one of those little gimmicky gifts that you can find at Urban Objects. But, it's fun and friendly, and makes a good gift for your attorney friends. They'll get a kick out of the cards. Unfortunately, probably once. This isn't a gift most people would keep around (they may read it once, and toss it or re-gift to someone else). So, if you're going to buy this, think about the person you're giving it to. Will they really enjoy it? Will they showcase it on their mahogany desk? Or will you find it in the trash bin later that week?Not much longevity, but that's the nature of these types of items. Otherwise, a great gift.

What a cute gift to give to someone going off to law school! My coworker and I purchased this for our coworker who was going off to law school and she loved it! We looked through the cards and little book when she opened it and want to buy one for ourselves too. It gives a summary of recent important cases and it makes good talking points socially. I highly recommend...it's witty and a funny!

I got this "mostly" as a joke gift for my lawyer-wannabe sister, but she loved it! She actually found it pretty insightful and a fun read. The little diploma is a nice touch and pretty adorable. If you have an aspiring or already lawyer in the family, this is a great gift - they will surely enjoy it.

I bought this for a friend who is a law student as a stocking filler. She probably had 15 minutes of enjoyment with it before she got done with it. The decision you need to make is whether those 15 minutes are worth it or whether you should find something that could be more useful (I don't mean this judgmentally...sometimes silly things are just what the stressed person might need!)

Bought this as a stocking stuffer for my software engineer son, because his sister is an attorney. Both my son and my dad were engrossed in reading the cards and interesting facts (who knew Byron White was drafted by the NFL?). When my attorney daughter got her hands on the kit later, she was impressed with it and commented that someone had spent quite of bit of time including the real cases that are enclosed. The enjoyment was well worth the purchase price.

Ich habe die Box für einen guten Freund aus den USA zu Weihnachten gekauft, muss allerdings gestehen, dass es auch für den deutschen Juristen durchaus witzig ist. Wir hatten einige sehr tolle Lachanfälle :DFazit: Hätten wir die Box früher entdeckt hätten wir gar nicht erst mit Jura angefangen, das ganze Wissen das man braucht ist nämlich in dieser Box enthalten

Ich habe diese Box einer Freundin geschenkt, die in den USA aktuell zur Law School geht und die hat sich über das Geschenk gefreut. Für mich als Nicht-Jurist ist die Box nicht so spannend, (angehende) Juristen können damit aber ihren Spaß haben und als lustiges Geschenk kann an damit nichts falsch machen.
