I was charging my new Ni-MH batteries with a charger designed for Ni-cads. Wasn't working well. My new batteries are charging correctly now and hold a charge much longer.

I got this to replace the original charger for my 18v NiMH Makita drill. So far it’s worked fine on the third-party replacement battery I use with my drill, with two minor issues:The charger can fit on the battery in two orientations, but only charges it in one. Check that the red light is solid rather than blinking and slap a piece of electrical tape on the charger to mark the correct side.I experienced the problem others reported with having to pry off the charger, but only when I tried to remove it before the battery was fully charged (I suspect it’s related to the issue some people reported with the charger getting hot). This means you can’t easily “quick charge” a dead battery to partially charged like the original Makita charger; if you’re planning on using a tool all day you’ll want two batteries, so one can charge while the other’s in use.

This did not fit my drill even though it says that it was compatible. I had to return it.

I've used the charger several times, and it seems to be working prefectly. It's a bit too soon for me to comment on its longevity, and I have no idea what "sheerness" is supposed ot men.

I purchased to replace my old Hitachi charger that stopped working. This charger gets the job done.
